Dear CES Families,

Wow! Just like that we are into the month of October! Time really flies when our Mini Mustangs are learning and earning here at Clio Elementary School! We've been continuing to build relationships, get into the routines of daily learning, and practice our procedures. We conducted our September assessments and are working on how to best support the learning of all of our students. As you already know, each and every day, all day long the students need to be present and engaged in order to do their personal best. On top of all of those fundamentals, we have been making plans for a lot of exciting special events. Mark your calendars for these October opportunities:

While all of these events are great, we want to encourage every parent/guardian to come to Parent Teacher Conferences to make sure we have in-person communication to keep the home and school partnership strong. We pride ourselves on trying to get as much potential to become reality for your children, but of course, it takes the entire community to make that happen. Thank you for all that you do for your children and we can't wait to see all of you in the coming days!

Our first student count day of the year is Wednesday October 4, 2023. What is count day? It is a day that Michigan designates to determine the amount of funding each school will receive per student. It is extremely important to the success of each student so that the district has the funds to support our students. Please make every effort to send your student to school this Wednesday!

Our Mini Mustangs have been learning all about behaviors at Clio Elementary. It is important to address those behaviors at the beginning of the year so that the rest of the year we can focus on learning academics. It is important to highlight that the majority of our referrals to date are from physical aggression. We expect our students to show Mustang PRIDE by being respectful of others and their space. We do this by keeping our hands, feet, books and objects to ourselves and staying in our own space. Please speak with your children about this important expectation and what to do if someone does make a poor choice to use physical aggression towards them. Here are some things that they can do:

• Say:

"Stop! I don't like it when you do that."

• If the aggression was more than just a minor push or tap , tell the nearest adult.

It is our priority to keep our children safe. We value your support as we work together as a team to ensure our students show their best Mustang Pride at C.E.S.!

The CES Boosters have been working hard to put together our October events and helping our staff feel valued and appreciated! They are looking for volunteers to help with these events! They would love to have your input and ideas! The next meeting is October 10th from 5-6 pm in the CES library.
