Character Counts Student Representative
Congratulations to Grace Shuford, GRMS Student of Character. This SJCSD recognition goes out to an 8th grader at each middle and K-8 school. Students are nominated by teachers of 8th graders then voted on by all staff. Grace is the daughter of Mark and Kelly Shuford. Students of Character are regularly observed demonstrating the six Character Counts Pillars of Character: fairness, responsibility, caring, trustworthiness, respect, and citizenship. We are very proud to have Grace representing our school at the upcoming reception.

School Related Employee of the Year - SREY
Congratulations to Ms. Kimberly Bugar, GRMS School--Related Employee of the Year! Kim is our Media Center paraprofessional. She does a wonderful job in the library, often also helping elsewhere. She does so happily, and for that we are appreciative. As others, SREY is voted on by the entire staff. Ms. Bugar is wearing red and black in the picture below, along with many of our Kindness Krew.
Curriculum Night - Title 1 Meeting
We hope you can join us on Thursday, October 10th for our Curriculum Night and Title 1 Meeting. You will get an opportunity to move about the building based on your student's class schedule. This begins at 5:30 and will end by 7:00 pm. During your time in 4th period, there will be a Title 1 meeting at which time you learn about what makes us a Title 1 school and what additional supports we are able to provide our students as a result. Also, it would be wonderful if you could arrive at 4:00 to join our PTO for their monthly meeting. This will give you an opportunity to learn more about the many things GRMS PTO does for our students and school. Once finished with the PTO meeting, we hope everyone will remain for the Curriculum and Title 1 combined events. Note: If there is no school this Thursday, we will reschedule this event. We are hopeful all will remain on schedule.

Arts Fundraiser
Dear Art, Band & Drama Families,
As the school year begins, it’s time to kick off our one and only fundraiser for the year! Our InstaRaise donation campaign will launch on September 30th, and the best part is—it’s all online! By starting early, we avoid fundraising fatigue and ensure success.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support the need for supplies. Every student benefits from the resources provided, and reaching this goal will require us all working together.
How parents can help their student start fundraising
1. Parents can help students have success on our fundraiser via our website, www.instaraise.com and REGISTER with our campaign ID.This will create a custom fundraising website that is personalized for your student.
2. Follow the InstaRaise registration prompts and add a selfie, set your goal and add your contacts name, email and phone (family, friends, coworkers, etc.). The contacts that you enter will receive an email asking them to support your student and our fundraiser. If you’d like to follow up with a text, the InstaRaise dashboard has some great texting tools. You’ll also receive a personal link to share on social media.
3. Help your student to complete the attached supporters list. Students who bring in their supporters list with 10 supporters will earn [a collectible incentive], with more rewards at 15 and 20.
Additional incentives include:
● Students who raise $25 will earn candy and prizes.
● $100 raised = invite to Ice Cream Party
● $250 raised = invite to Wrap Pizza & Ice Cream Party
● Businesses can sponsor $250+ donation and receive recognition in all event programs (Fall Arts Festival Programs, Concerts, Plays).
TIP: Don’t forget to download the InstaRaise app from the App store to easily import your contacts from your phone. Let’s work together to hit our goal and make this year a success!
