Dear Families,
A different kind of week for sure- VTCAP assessments, early release, snow day and now we’re heading into a three day weekend in anticipation of the eclipse!
Your child/ren will be bringing home protective glasses today for viewing the eclipse. Please supervise their viewing. Link to eclipse resources. It will be so interesting to hear about the students’ experiences and thinking.
Exhibition - Due to sickness and the unexpected days off, we have decided to postpone the 5th grade presentations and 4th/5th Gallery Walk. This change lessened considerable stress for the students.
VTCAP - Our VTCAP scheduling has necessarily been adjusted to accommodate interruptions and pacing. We anticipate completing 4th/5th ELA today and wrapping them all up by 4/19. The 4th and 5th graders have done such a lovely job of settling into them. Several didn’t want to stop Wednesday and one student mentioned happily that they were really fun. Not everyone’s cup of tea, of course, but I think overall the testing environment has been pretty comfortable. Here is our schedule as of today:
Tuesday, 4/9 - 4th/5th Math 8:30-9:50
Wednesday, 4/10 - 4th/5th Math 8:30-10:05
Thursday, 4/11 - 3rd ELA - 9:15-10:45
Friday, 4/12 - 3rd ELA - 9:15-10:45
Thursday, 4/11 -5th Science 12:05-1:20
Friday, 4/12 - 5th Science 12:05-1:20
Tuesday, 4/16 - 3rd Math - 8:30-10:00
Wednesday, 4/17 - 3rd Math -8:30-10:00
Lunch volunteers - HELP! Next week we need coverage for all days. Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or sign up directly here if you can help with lunch prep and service, 11:00-12:00 between now and the end of the school year. Even one day helps. Thanks.
Have a wonderful weekend and a safe, inspiring eclipse viewing!
Best, Christina
Weybridge Illness Alert and Guidance for Families and Staff
We are seeing a variety of illnesses circulating this spring. At Weybridge School we are seeing cases of strep throat, fevers, impetigo, stomach aches, and pink eye with a particular increase recently in Strep throat. Symptoms of strep throat include
Fever
Pain when swallowing
Sore throat that starts quickly
White patches or streaks of pus on the tonsils
Red spots on the roof of the mouth
Swollen lymph nodes in the front of the neck
We have also seen stomach aches related to strep as well as headaches.
In order to keep infection down at school, we would appreciate keeping your student home to rest when ill and talking to your child about good handwashing.
We expect students and staff to stay home with any potentially contagious illnesses or symptoms including the following:
Vomiting/diarrhea-must be 24 hours symptom free before returning to school
Fever 100.4 or greater
Eye infection, eyes are red and oozing a yellow or green discharge
Any infection requiring an antibiotic-keep your student home until they have been on antibiotics for 24 hours
Persistent cough that disrupts normal activity and ability to learn
Unexplained rash
Influenza-stay home until fever free without medication for 24 hours
Any other symptoms or illness that impedes a student’s ability to learn or staff’s ability to work.
You may return once feeling well enough to be at school and fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.
Please reach out with any questions you may have.
