AEHS Weekly Newsletter
October 29, 2023
Good evening, Titans.
Happy Sunday! A quick reminder that this will be a short week students. The end of MP1 is Tuesday, October 31. Therefore, there is no school for students Wednesday, November 1, as this is a professional day for teachers to prepare to submit MP1 grades.
Also, I would like to share how excited we are for our fall play, Lavender, which opens Thursday, November 2. We are also excited for our students who participate in Einstein S.T.A.G.E. as the prepare to showcase the play during our school-wide teaser, Friday, November 2. More on Lavender below.
I am also happy to share that though we have had some concerns with our auditorium lighting, the Board of Education has approved much needed repairs, which we hope will be complete within the next 12 weeks. In the interim, we will continue to use our temporary lighting for our fall play.
Have a great week!
Mark Brown, Jr.
Principal

Lavender - AEHS' Fall Play (NEW)
School-wide teaser for students and staff will be Friday, November 3, during period 4.
Volunteers Needed for Fall Play (NEW)
Einstein's fall play, Lavender (written by an Einstein alum!), is just around the corner and we could use some help getting the students fed as they prepare for the production. Below are three ways to help. Thanks for considering!
We still need more help in quite a few areas, with 3 sign ups now to cover everything. Two sign ups (Saturday Tech Lunch and Tech Week dinners) have already been sent out to STAGE parents by Smealie. The third, the Cappies dinner on Nov. 4, should go out very soon. I am attaching links to all 3 below and will highlight gaps that still need volunteers.
1. Tech Lunch, Saturday, October 28:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0F45AAA7238-45017627-lavender
Most of these slots are filled! THANK YOU! The few remaining open slots are: 2 veggie/vegan dishes, 1 sandwich/hoagie OR meat and cheese platter, 1 pasta or other dish (service for 12)
2. Tech Week Dinners: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0F45AAA7238-45241515-tech
Note: We still have quite a lot of open slots for these. We still need lots of help setting up, serving, and cleaning up. We also need a few more people to volunteer to get and prepare food for Taco night on Wednesday, and one person to pick up pre-ordered pizzas from Costco. Please sign up to help with some of these if you can!
3. Cappies Dinner, Nov. 4 (before, between, and after the play):
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0F45AAA7238-45589859-cappies
Note: There is a slight chance we could edit sign ups, once we know how many S.T.A.G.E. parents have signed up to volunteer.
No food prep involved here! But we do need volunteers to set and clean up and one volunteer to pick up food from Ledo's and deliver it to the cafeteria.
Finally: If you haven't already, please donate money to help with the costs if you can. You can venmo Emily at Emily-Kirby-40, or contact Emily (kirbyeh@gmail.com or 703-966-6219) or Hilary (hjmeek@verizon.net or 202-867-7856) to donate cash or if you have any questions.
We are super excited to see our kids perform (or see the set they created) Langston's original play!
Thanks so much!
Hilary and Emily
