This week...
We have enjoyed another fantastic week in school.
Our whole school weekly Mass at Church on Wednesday was, as always, heartening to be a part of. Our children are super at Mass responses now, and engage so beautifully!
It's such a privilege to know that we took the parishioner count in Mass from 7 to 107!
Transition Day across school on Thursday was a huge success. Mr Craigen was so impressed with the current year 4s that he awarded them a Star of Week Award in Celebration Assembly!
We are all very excited already about next year.
Have a lovely weekend.
Thank you, as always, for supporting us to
Live, love and learn with the Lord.
Mrs Ronicle
Virtue - Service
Our current virtue is service. We have been exploring the role that Jesus had on Earth, and how He taught us to serve others. There is a real joy and sense of fulfilment we can achieve through service, and we have been looking for ways we can serve this week.
One of our amazing children sent me photos of the hedgehog she rescued from her garden. Ruby the Hedgehog was taken to the hedgehog hospital and is now recovered enough to be set free. What a wonderful example of service!
Mini Vinnies Fun Run!
Well done to our Mini Vinnies, who had the fabulous idea of organising a Fun Run to raise money this week! They made posters, created super costumes, set up an obstacle-filled course and sold spectator tickets! We thoroughly enjoyed cheering them on and are proud of the £14.75 they raised.
St Therese Biscuit Week
Last week, St Therese enjoyed a special DT-focused Biscuit Week! They taste-tested other biscuits; designed their own creations in teams; then baked and decorated their delicious biscuits!
Transition Day
On Thursday, our children and staff across school moved into their new classes, in readiness for September! The children enjoyed fun activities and spent some time getting to know their new classmates / teachers / TAs!
Reading at home
We are noticing that our children don't read at home as often as we would like.
Reading at home is ESSENTIAL for children to make progress in school and beyond!
Sharing a book with your child for 20 mins each day exposes them to 1.8 million words a year!
Charity Runs
Several of our children have taken part in charity events in their own time recently. We are so proud of our children and the way they show love and compassion to others! Well done, guys!
Attendance Update
Whole School Attendance this week: 92.6%
Our attendance this week is below National Average.
Please try to remember that any time out of school has an impact on our children's social, pastoral and academic progress.
We have been learning...
St Nicholas (Nursery)
This week we have been basing our provision on the story of the Ugly Duckling. We have enjoyed making duck masks and pictures of the duck in the pond!
St Francis (Preschool/Reception)
This week we have been very busy and been on 2 trips out! We had a fantastic walk around Tadcaster on Tuesday and finished with a picnic lunch. On Wednesday we also went for a scavenger hunt around Church to look for the different features.
St Bernadette (Y1/Y2)
In History, we went for an archaeological dig to uncover clues about the explorer and archaeologist Gertrude Bell. We found different objects in the sand and then wrote down what we thought that told us about her.
St Patrick (Y3/Y4)
This week St.Patrick's Class have been drafting their stories based on the Disney short film, Feast.
We have used alliteration, fronted adverbials, short sentences and dialogue.
We have thought deeply about our characters and their emotions.
St Therese (Y5/Y6)
During our transition day, the Year 4s and 5s (our new St Therese class for next year!) created their own ‘dots’ based on The Dot by Peter Reynolds, which we have put together to make a fantastic display.
