Otsego Student Health Center Opening Soon!
The new Otsego Student Health Center is opening soon! We are thrilled to share that the final Federal approval has been granted and we can now focus on this incredible service and access to healthcare for our students and families.
Over the next few weeks, InterCare will be finalizing staffing and hours for the facility. We will share those details as soon as we get them as well as our opening date.
We do already have dates set to provide sports physicals. Any middle school or high school athlete planning to participate in an MHSAA sport will need an updated physical for the 2025-26 school year. Dates and times are listed on the Health Center web page.
Physicals will be performed by Nurse Practitioners and cost just $20. You can make an appointment by calling 855-869-6900.
We are very excited for this news knowing that access to healthcare is an issue for many of our families. To re-familiarize yourself with the health center services for both medical and mental health, please check out our website at: https://www.otsegops.org/studenthealthcenter

Helping Kids Unwind: The Power of an After-School Decompression Routine
After a long day of learning, socializing, and navigating expectations, kids often come home carrying more than just their backpacks. The transition from school to home can be overwhelming, and without a chance to decompress, it may show up as meltdowns, irritability, or withdrawal. Creating a consistent after-school decompression routine can help children reset, recharge, and reconnect with their family in a calm, supportive environment.
Here are a few simple, research-backed strategies to help your child transition smoothly from school to home:
Avoid asking questions right away. Give your child space before diving into conversations about their day—this gives their brain time to shift gears.
Greet with warmth and positivity. A smile, hug, or kind word can set a comforting tone and help your child feel safe and welcome.
Offer a snack. Hunger can often intensify stress or fatigue, so a healthy snack can do wonders for mood and energy.
Reduce demands and expectations. Hold off on chores, homework, or tasks immediately after school to allow time for recovery.
Give time and space. Whether it’s quiet time in their room or free play, unstructured downtime helps children decompress in their own way.
Find a moment to connect. Once your child is ready, spend a few minutes together doing something low-pressure and enjoyable—this builds trust and emotional resilience.
By building in this decompression buffer, you're not only supporting your child’s emotional regulation, but also strengthening your bond and creating a peaceful after-school rhythm for your whole family.
