"Learning for all, whatever it takes"
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! The Tuscarora staff and I are so excited for an awesome year filled with learning and fun.The staff at Tuscarora has worked diligently this summer to prepare for the start of the new school year.
Please take a moment to review our mission and beliefs . . .
Mission:
Learning for All - Whatever It Takes.
Core Beliefs:
We believe . . .
1. All children can and will learn.
2. All teachers can and will provide a learning environment that allows for student growth and development.
3. All teachers are committed to the growth of every child.
We believe that these guiding principles will ensure the best for your children. During the first few weeks of school, I encourage you to go to our top-notch Tuscarora website and take a look at our Welcome Toolkit under the Parents & Students tab. This toolkit provides many important details about day to day procedures at Tuscarora. However, if at any time you have a question or concern, please do not hesitate to contact us! Our phone number is 304.267.3565 and my email address is tlong@k12.wv.us.

EMERGENCY CARDS - VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Every year it is required that you update your child's emergency card. It is important that we have current phone numbers to reach you in the event of illness, accident, academic, or various other reasons. As a school, we ask that you provide at minimum one additional contact besides the primary contact. If contacts and/or phone numbers change throughout the school year, you may make changes as needed by revisiting the Berkeley County Schools website. Please use the attached link to access the 24-25 Emergency Card. You can also access this via our school webpage under the Parents & Students tab.
PLEASE BE ADVISED...YOUR STUDENT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE ANY FORM OF TECHNOLOGY AT SCHOOL UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE EMERGENCY CARD.
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION!!!
When your student is absent from school, you will need to notify us with the reason for absence within 2 school days. We encourage you to do this using the new electronic form for reporting absences. (see below) This form will also allow you to attach notes from the doctor. You can find this form on the Board of Education website under the "Parent & Students" tab clicking on Attendance. We will also accept handwritten notes in the event that you are unable to electronically report the absence. Please note, if we do not receive a note, the absence/tardy is considered unexcused.

LUNCH INFORMATION
When packing a lunch for your student, please be mindful that we are unable to reheat or prepare foods from home. We can, however, help open things such as gogurt, fruit cups, etc. Breakfast and lunch are FREE for all Tuscarora students. However, if your child packs a lunch and wants a school milk or an extra milk with school lunch, it will cost 25 cents.
HERSHEY'S ICE CREAM
We would like to start our weekly Hershey's Ice Cream Sale. However, we first need ALL parents to fill out the form (Tuscarora Instructional Snack Permission Slip 2024-2025) that was sent home in the beginning of the year. Also the 24/25 annual emergency needs to be filled out. It is important to get these forms back so we know of any allergies your kid may have! Without that being filled out your student will NOT be allowed to get ice cream due to us not knowing if they have allergies or not.
SHENANDOAH COMMUNITY HEALTH SCHOOL BASED CLINIC
Berkeley County Schools and Shenandoah Community Health have partnered together to provide in-school healthcare services for students and school personnel. A Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) make up the School-Based Health Team from SCH who provide the medical services. They come to Tuscarora every Wednesday from 12-3 pm. Students and school personnel may receive healthcare services during school hours without leaving the building and return to the classroom to continue learning/teaching. This provides convenience and support so that parents do not have to take time off work to transport their child to the doctor and promotes less time missed in the classroom.
Please refer to attached link below for more information. Please note that before they can see a student they must have an enrollment packet on file.
