Celebrating Our Comets at the Special Olympics
Each year, one of the most heartwarming and inspiring traditions in our district is the Special Olympics—and this year was no different. It’s a moment when our entire school community comes together to celebrate the strength, dedication, and spirit of our incredible student-athletes.
As our Comets made their way to participate in the Special Olympics at Elyria High School, the halls were filled with students and staff cheering them on. Lined with handmade signs, words of encouragement, and proud smiles, the send-off parade — complete with high-fives and applause — created an unforgettable show of support and school pride.
Leading up to the big day, our athletes spent time practicing their events, including running, throwing, and building their team spirit. Their determination, hard work, and positive energy were on full display, inspiring everyone around them.
The Special Olympics remind us all of the power of perseverance, inclusion, and the joy of cheering one another on. We are so proud of our Comets for representing our schools with courage, heart, and an unshakable team spirit!
Important Upcoming Dates for the Class of 2025
3rd Grade Tour at Walter G. Nord
Every year, Nord School has the pleasure of welcoming our 3rd grade class for a special visit—and this year was no exception! Our awesome 3rd grade Comets had a fun-filled day learning all about #NordSchool. They participated in their very first Comet Impact raffle, toured the building, and completed a fun activity alongside a 4th grade buddy.
A special shoutout goes to our Kindness Crew — student leaders who played a key role in the day’s success by guiding tours and welcoming our visitors with smiles and support. Their familiar, friendly faces will help make the transition to a new school next year a little easier for our future Nord students!
MLS Signing Day Ceremony
Marion L. Steele recently hosted a Signing Day Ceremony to celebrate four outstanding seniors who will be continuing their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level. AJ Sliman will attend the University of Mount Union to compete on the swim team, while Isabella Thomas-Friend will also join Mount Union to play softball. Cole Mayer is headed to John Carroll University to throw for the Men’s Track and Field team, and Jocelyn Anderson will run on the Women’s Track and Field team at Hiram College.
Congratulations to these talented student-athletes, and thank you for your hard work, commitment, and dedication to Comet Nation! We wish you all the best of luck as you take on this exciting next chapter—go shine bright!
