A Note From the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Tuesday, dental hygienists from the Chardon Smile Center came to talk to us about dental health! We reviewed good toothbrushing and flossing habits and talked about the foods that are great for our dental health. Every student got a goody bag, too! Thank you to the Chardon Smile Center for visiting Munson! Check out photos of the assembly below.
Remember that next week we will be celebrating Random Act of Kindness week with a spirit week (details are below) and a Food Drive on Wednesday, February 12! We have our class Valentine's get-togethers on February 13 and there is NO SCHOOL on February 14 and 17.
Thank you,

Clinic Corner
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Please visit the Ohio Department of Health Flu Rate Info to view the most recent update regarding influenza rates in Ohio. Ohio is in the "very high" category. We are seeing MANY kids in the clinic with high fevers and active flu symptoms. Many are returning to school after 2-3 days of fevers at home, and are then spiking fevers at school. If students have or have had a fever, they should not return to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications (Tylenol, Advil, ibuprofen, Dayquil, etc.).
Per the Center for Disease Control recommendations, generally students can return to school when:
- the child has not had a fever (and is not using fever-reducing medicine) for at least 24 hours
- fever with a new rash has been evaluated by a healthcare provider, and fever has resolved
- uncovered skin sores are crusting, and the child is under treatment from a provider
- vomiting has resolved overnight and the child can hold down food/liquids in the morning
- diarrhea has improved, the child is no longer having accidents, and is having bowel movements no more than 2 above normal for the child, per 24-hour period. Any bloody diarrhea should be evaluated by a healthcare provider prior to return to school
- respiratory virus symptoms are getting better overall for at least 24 hours. Students and staff returning after a respiratory illness can consider additional actions to reduce spread.
Thank you for helping us to keep our school healthy!
Mrs. Sarah Park, RN, BSN
Mrs. Renee Kolenich, MA
