ASPL's Turning a Page Capital Campaign
As many of you may have already learned, the library is looking to expand our physical space to better serve our community. Financial and community support is needed in order to make our dream of a better-sized facility a reality.
There will be a public vote in May 2025 for the community to decide if they are ready for the Library to move forward with this expansion. Additionally, the Advocates for the Schuylerville Public Library will be fundraising for the project with a financial goal of $200,000.
With 56+ years since our last capital campaign and major expansion, we understand how significant this change is. When it was completed in 1968, our current building was built to serve just over 1,400 residents. After transitioning from a Village Library to a School District Library in 2013, we now provide service to just over 10,000 residents. Our goal has been and continues to be to serve our community to the best of our ability, and our greatest limitation to that at present is our physical space.
If you would like to learn more about this campaign, donate (buy a brick), and/or share your time or talent, please visit https://schuylervillelibrary.sals.edu/index.php/turning-a-page-capital-campaign/ to learn more.

Repair Cafe Returns!
At Schuylerville Public Library on Saturday, Sept 28, everything centers on making repairs. Starting at 10am and ending at 12pm, various volunteer repair experts will be available to help make all possible repairs free of charge. Most tools and materials will also be on hand.
People visiting the Repair Café will bring along their broken items from home. Limit of two items per person. Small appliances, lamps, hair dryers, radios, clothes, toys... anything that is broken and small enough to carry is welcome and can more than likely be repaired. The Repair Café specialists almost always have the know-how.
By promoting repairs, the Library wants to help reduce mountains of waste. This event is being co-sponsored by Climate Smart Schuylerville, a group whose mission is to help the Village of Schuylerville develop and promote environmentally responsible practices in order to preserve Schuylerville’s rich heritage, reduce energy and environmental costs to the Village and taxpayers, and move toward environmental sustainability for present and future generations.
Interested in volunteering for this event, as a repairer? Simply contact Caitlin Johnson at cjohnson@sals.edu.

Staff Picks
Question of the Month!
It's a new month, with a new opportunity to learn a little bit about our staff. Each month we ask the SPL staff a question. This month it is: "What is your favorite place in New York State?" This question was inspired by National New York Day, which will be celebrated on September 21.
Caitlin: "The New York Public Library"
Julie: "My favorite New York State destination is Niagara Falls. Majestic!"
Holly: "I honestly haven't traveled enough to feel I have a good answer, but I am partial to Quaker Springs because that is where I grew up."
Emilly: "Lake Ontario and the Adirondacks"
Jessica: "Glen Lake, NY"
Beth: "Letchworth State Park or up in the Adirondacks where my grandma lived when I was little."
Brandi: "The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester."
Mary Lou: "I really cannot focus on just one! I do enjoy road trips, and one of my favorite during the Fall season is to take a drive out through Greenwich/Salem/Cambridge/Eagle Bridge/Shushan...discovering both known roads and new back roads. The beauty is amazing out that way! Some very cool bookstores, shops and restaurants as well!!"
