Meet our EDGE Students
Meet EDGE student Josephine Johnson! She is interested in pursuing teaching in elementary education. She has been interning with the Boone Lincoln School and she has been helping the teachers in their classroom. Some of the things she’s been able to experience include reading to the kids in a kindergarten class, working on spelling, and help at outside recess. Josephine has been shadowing Amanda Reimers in Kindergarten, Kaili Streeter in first grade, and Julie Malin in Transitional Kindergarten. On the days she isn’t shadowing teachers, Josie is working on curriculum to help prepare her for a teaching career. She is really enjoying seeing and learning at each level and will be such a great educator to our future students!
Meet EDGE Advantage student Molly Alexander. Molly is a senior here at Boone High and is involved in Cross Country, Track as a manager, NHS, Student Council, and Orchestra. Her plans after school are to go to DMACC and then transfer to Iowa State to major in Physical Education Molly has been going to different schools in the Boone Community job shadowing various grades of Physical Education to see which age group suits her best. So far she has done 6th grade, 5th grade, 4th and 2nd grade, and is now currently at Lincoln viewing 1st and kindergarten. This has been a great opportunity for her to see how a classroom might work and what being a teacher involves. Her favorite part of doing the job shadows is getting to participate in the activities when the students. Big thanks all of Boone Community Schools Physical Education Teachers! They have been nothing but supportive!

Free School Breakfast and Lunch for all Students for the 2021-2022 school year
Tasty Toreador Meals - Supply Chain Issues
• This school year, thanks to federal pandemic waivers, all students will be eligible for free meals, regardless of family income.
• School meal programs nationwide are experiencing many of the same supply chain issues that have impacted restaurants and grocery stores throughout the pandemic.
• Our school nutrition team is committed to ensuring students continue to have access to healthy meals each school day.
• Just as families have to make substitutions on grocery lists, schools will have to make some last-minute changes to our regular menus, based on availability.
• We hope parents and students will be patient as we sort through these supply chain issues.
• We may not have the same menu choices that we typically offer our students, but we’ll be sure that all students are nourished and ready to learn.
*Reminder: For students bringing a sack lunch and wanting school milk, there will be a .50 cent charge per carton.

Athletics Registration
Toreador Families,
Our "Online Athletics Registration" is live and active for the 2021-22 School Year (link is below). Please take the time to read through the information, and fill out the forms for your student. All students involved in District-Sponsored Athletics in grades 7-12 will need a completed online athletics registration on file, along with a current physical form (physicals are valid for 13 months after the date of the physical). There is a place within the registration to upload the completed physical form.
Completion of the Registration/Physical is not required for the attendance at any summer camps that may be offered. However, the Athletics Registration and Physical Form must be completed and on file before a student may physically participate in practice this Fall. For High School, this starting date is Monday August 9th. Middle School practices will begin a couple weeks later near the first day of school.
