Irondale Speech had a great tournament at Forest Lake on Saturday coming in 6th Place out of 29 teams.

Earning awards and contributing to the team's standing were:

Asmaa Hamimoune - 1st Place in Discussion; Andrea Perez - 4th Place in Discussion; Veronica Lindquist - 5th Place in Informative; Malaya Wesseh - 6th Place in Creative Expression; Dona Nikolova - 7th Place in Informative; Sufi Bhakta - 1st Place (next-in) in Original Oratory, Samantha Bolin - 1st Place (next-in) in Poetry, Tenzin Bhakdo - 3rd Place (next-in) in Creative Expression; Ronory Buyuccan - 4th Place (next-in) in Original Oratory; Laura Braun - 5th Place (next-in) in Extemporaneous Reading; and Kena Abdissa - 6th Place (next-in) in Discussion. Excellent work, team!

The Irondale Boy's and Girl's Track teams will be having an informational meet right after school on Thursday, February 27, in the Irondale Cafeteria. We will give out information, answer questions, and plan for the season. Irondale High School's Girls Lacrosse is OPEN to 7th-12th graders! Lacrosse is a fun sport & is super easy to pick up - no previous experience needed. Do something fun this spring and join the team! There will be a New Player Interest Meeting on Monday, March 3, from 4:30-5:30 (drop in) at Irondale High School in the Commons (near the main office). Are you ready to be freezin' for a reason? Irondale and Edgewood’s Unified Clubs will host the 4th annual Polar Plunge on Tuesday, April 1, at Irondale. Look for a survey to help us plan the theme. Attention students interested in playing Irondale Boys Lacrosse this spring! Coach Barry is hosting an informational lacrosse meeting for the Spring 2025 Season on Thursday, March 13, starting at 7 PM in the Irondale High School Multi-Purpose Room. No experience is necessary, just a desire to learn, work hard, and be part of the team. Coach Barry will be discussing the upcoming season, expectations, and answer questions. All interested 8th through 12th grade students and parents should attend. We are looking forward to another great season and would love for you to be part of the team! Spring Sports start at varying times - please see below for more information. Online registration will open on Monday, February 24 for all activities. A valid sports qualifying physical must be on file in the Activities Office in order to register, and all students must be registered in order to practice/try-out. Physicals can be turned in to Maggie Schley in the Activities Department at Irondale via physical paperwork, email, or fax. Full instructions are available on our registration webpage. We strongly recommend that you register at least 72 hours prior to the start date to avoid any delay in participation. To check the date of a student’s last physical, log into your ParentVUE account and select the Student Info tab. The physical date is located at the bottom of the page (not available on the mobile app). The registration fee for all spring sports is $190. These fees are waived for families who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program, and the fee will automatically reset to zero at the time of registration. All students will automatically receive free meals without the need to apply, however the application must be completed in order to be eligible for waived activity fees. The 2024-2025 Application for Educational Benefits is currently available for those who need to submit a new form. Any student who does not make a team, or decides not to participate prior to their 1st contest is entitled to a full refund of their registration fee. REGISTRATION WEBSITE HERE.

A Chemical Awareness meeting will be mandatory for all athletes, and they should be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian. Each activity is responsible for holding their own meeting within the first 3 weeks of the season. Please reach out to the appropriate head coach for more info.

Middle School Participants MUST have a consent form signed by themselves, a parent/guardian, and their principal. These forms can be found on the registration website.

If you have a conflict that prevents you from attending the first practices, please be sure to register by the above listed closing dates, and communicate your scheduling conflict with your child’s head coach.
