Message from the Superintendent
Greetings Emery Unified community,
The holidays are here! As students and staff prepare to pause their lessons until January, I want to take a moment to reflect on those who have supported our students, staff, and school district this year.
At Emery, I am grateful for our amazing staff who go above and beyond to ensure our students are prepared for success. I’m thankful for our families who support our students by ensuring they come to school every day ready to learn and thrive. I’m also thankful for our community partners who have supported us this year and are providing great opportunities for our students to learn even more. Together, we are ensuring our students are prepared for a future of success.
I wish you a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday!
Sincerely,
Dr. Quiauna Scott
Superintendent

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences are approaching! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and learn about your child’s academic progress. We look forward to seeing parents and guardians next week. If you have any questions, please contact your school office.
Annual Report
In the past year, Emery Unified School District embarked on a transformative journey, guided by our comprehensive strategic plan. We invite you to read our annual update at the link below.
Flu Season
Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory disease caused by influenza viruses. Flu can be more dangerous than the common cold for children. Each year, flu places a large burden on the health and well-being of children and their families. Annual flu vaccination offers the best protection against flu and its potentially serious complications in children. Parents can help children fight flu by getting themselves and their children vaccinated against flu each year (source).
Contact the Emeryville Health Center for more information on flu shots!
Social Justice Club at EHS
The Emery High School Social Justice Club is a new club this year! Through the club, students are empowered to address social problems, fight for social justice, and make schools safe and inclusive for all identities.
Ms. Cabrera, Emery High School College Advisor, and Mr. Lopez, Office Support Specialist, are the adult sponsors. The club is currently organizing community service opportunities!
Read more of the club’s mission statement:
- Strategies to peacefully and effectively address and resolve conflicts with friends, family, peers and others.
- Educate young people on economic inequality, strategies and resources to address these challenges, and their role creating economic justice for all.
- Lead the way in abolishing gender stereotypes, advancing gender equity, and creating a world free of misogyny.
- Empower and connect young people to speak and work across religious traditions to build community and advance social justice.

- Students and educations organizing locally to address social problems, fight for social justice, and make schools safe and inclusive for all identities.
- Provide young people with training and tools to build coalitions, call out injustice, and actively work for positive social change.
- Train educators to play a critical support role for students learning about and addressing inequity and injustice, both in and out of the classroom.
Apprenticeship Field Trip
At Emery High School, students are learning about different trades and career pathways! Students recently visited Rising Sun Center for Opportunity, a workforce development program organization specializing in preparing youth, women, and individuals in reentry for high-road careers and green pathways that offer family-sustaining wages. There will also be a field trip to a real construction site where students can learn more about construction careers. Students are looking forward to this cool learning experience!
