September Family Newsletter
Kendall Elementary Family Newsletter October 2023
Welcome to October!
Important Dates
- We are already at the end of the first 9 weeks, which is October 6. Report cards will go home with your child on October 13.
- Fall Break is October 16-20.
- Family Literacy and Trick-or Treat night is October 25th from 5-6:30. Our book fair will also be going on that week, and during the event, so this will be a great time for all!
- As the weather continues to change, please be sure to check the forecast and send your child with appropriate clothing for recess, especially as the mornings turn chillier.
- Second Harvest is 10/11 from 4:30-6 in the gym. These events are first come-first served. A good practice is to get in line early. Please bring a bag and wagon if you have them.
- Reminder that if your child is going to be absent, please call the school office each day so that we can mark the reason for the absence. If the office does not receive a call then the absence is marked as unexcused.
- If your child is signed up for extended learning, that will start Tuesday 10/3 and run from 2:30-4:00. Reminder that transportation is not provided so please be prompt when picking them up.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences are in full swing at Kendall. If you have already had your conference, thank you so much. If yours has not yet been scheduled, your child's teacher will be reaching out to you soon to get it on the calendar. The school-family relationship is so critical for academic growth and this is an important part of establishing that team focus.
Do you have a change in dismissal?
We understand that there are times when a student needs to dismiss a different way than what they normally do. When a dismissal change is needed, please contact the school by 1pm so that we can communicate the change and accommodate appropriately. The student will follow the same dismissal plan unless the parent or guardian informs the school of a change.
The Importance of Reading Each Night
There are so many benefits to having your child read each night. Additionally, it is so important for the child to hear their adult read to them. Click here for an article that highlights six reasons why this type of reading is so important.
September is over and October is here! I can see in the smiles on our students' faces that this is going to be the best October yet!
