Partnering with Families to Ensure Student Safety
Dear Franklin Family,
At Franklin Academy, we are deeply committed to fostering a safe and productive learning environment for all our students. Recently, we have observed a concerning trend that requires your attention and collaboration. Some students are choosing to skip class by hiding in bathrooms or attending classes where a substitute teacher is present. While we have dedicated campus monitors who diligently oversee student movement, their ability to check bathrooms is limited due to the need to respect student privacy.
This behavior not only impacts students' academic progress but also presents safety risks. When students miss class without permission, it becomes difficult for us to ensure their well-being. In a school environment built on trust and accountability, we rely on accurate attendance records to confirm that all students are where they should be.
To assist us in addressing this issue, we kindly ask families to monitor their child's attendance in PowerSchool regularly. While reviewing first-period attendance is important, it is equally crucial to check for all class periods throughout the day. Consistent communication with your child about the importance of attending every class can make a significant difference.
We are also committed to increasing our efforts within the school. Teachers and staff are vigilant in tracking attendance and reporting any anomalies. Additionally, we will continue to work on enhancing our supervision methods to further ensure student accountability.
Together, we can address this issue and create a safer and more responsible school environment. Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to your child's education. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Sergio Delgado, your proud principal
Staff Member in the Spotlight
Mr. Alex Melendez, our School Safety Officer
This time, we shine the spotlight on Officer Alex Melendez, our dedicated school officer who has been an integral part of the Franklin Academy community for over six years. Officer Melendez works tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on campus.
He is always present before the first student arrives and remains until the last student has left. His commitment extends beyond regular school hours, as he attends every event and even supervises Saturday detention to maintain a secure environment. We are incredibly grateful for Officer Melendez’s unwavering dedication and the sense of security he provides to our school community.
IMPORTANT: Service Hours
As agreed to by all Parents/Guardians and defined in the Parent School Contract, Franklin Academy families must complete service hours each academic year. Franklin Academy’s family service hour agreement states that Franklin families will be required to perform eight (8) hours of service for the academic year regardless of the number of students enrolled.
Families are required to complete 8 hours by June 30th, we highly recommend completing them as soon as possible. Families can check Raptor to ensure hours are accurately recorded. The hours in Raptor will roll over into PowerSchool about a week after each quarter ends. If you notice any issues, please email Mr. Carnaggie at Carnaggie.Christopher@franklin-academy.org.
Our goal is for 100 percent of our families to complete their required hours and ensure no student loses their seat.
Important Message About Testing
Dear Franklin Families,
Our FAST Writing is right around the corner. It is important that students attend the testing session and that they are not picked up early to maintain a conducive learning environment. We will not be able to call into a class to release any students unless all students complete the assessment.
