The Pizitz Post

Do you have old or gently used books at your house? SGA is collecting used books for our school philanthropy, Hand in Paw. We are primarily looking for children's books up to an 8th grade reading level. Students will be at morning carpool next week, May 6th-10th. Hand in Paw is an animal-assisted therapy non profit located right here in Birmingham. One of their programs, Sit, Stay, Read, provides students struggling with reading a chance to read to a non-judgmental furry friend to improve their literacy. These books will go to expanding their library for the students they serve.

We are so proud of all of our robotics teams this year. One team met the criteria to complete in the world championship in Dallas, TX last week. Team AI ended the tournament with a 4-6 win-loss record and were ranked 48th in the division out of 82 teams. The girls were able to compete with and against the best in the world, our division was the top scoring of the 7 middle school divisions! Way to go, ladies. You represented Pizitz well!

The Bass fishing team won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in their qualifying tournaments, placing the team in 2nd overall in the state as we move into our state championship. The team will compete for the title on May 9th at Joe Wheeler! Let's go, Pirates!

It’s time again for Pizitz to show off your talents at this year’s Talent Show on Pirate’s Day. We will have a meeting on Monday afternoon, May 6, 8th period in the choir room, for those interested in auditioning for the Talent Show. We will hand out all information, including the application and rules for the Talent Show and answer any questions that you may have at the Informational Meeting. Reach out to Mr. Coleman if you have questions (colemantb@vhcs.us).

Auditions will take place on Wednesday, May 15.

6th graders will audition during 5th period.

7th/8th graders will audition during 8th period.

CALLING ALL DISTANCE RUNNERS! Any current 6th or 7th graders interested in 2024 Pizitz Cross Country Team should join the Google Classroom (Code: lvqdguz) for more information! There will be a parent and athlete meeting this month and will be communicated through Google Classroom and the next Pizitz Post.

VHHS Bowling Tryouts will be held on May 22nd & May 23rd from

3pm-4:30pm at Vestavia Bowl. Be sure to have your DragonFly 2023-24 completed (including current physical). Contact Coach Broome with questions (broomeda@vhcs.us).

Attention current 6th & 7th Graders not competing on a fall team ( such as Cross Country, Football, Volleyball, Cheer, Dance, Majorettes)! Do you like to run? Do you like to jump? Do you like to throw? Do you like to win? Then Track & Field Off-Season may be the sport for you!

2024 FALL TRACK & FIELD OFF-SEASON STUDENT INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS:

• Dates: May 6th, 7th , and 8th.
• When: 8th Pd. Students must check in with their current 8th pd teacher first then report to the meeting.
• Where: Coach Williams' Classroom- C109 (8th Grade building towards the baseball field)
• Students must attend 1 of the 3 meetings.

Any current 6th or 7th grader interested in trying out for the 2024 Pizitz volleyball team should join the Google Classroom (Code: y5rl6tr) for more information about the tryout process. Tryouts will take place May 6th, 8th, 9th, and 10th.
