Mr. Kirschenbaum, ELA
On Monday and Tuesday, students will take the end of advisory unit assessment. This will be a check on whether students understand the narrative concepts that we have practiced in class.
Thursday’s Field Trip – Students should arrive at school at their normal time with a bagged lunch. We will return to school before 3:15 for dismissal.
We will begin Tuck Everlasting on December 2nd, so please make sure your student has a copy of the text.
Mx. Gomez, Math

Ms. Wesselhoft, Geography
Next week students will start the theme of the unit: The African Diaspora. We will learn what it is, then investigate some voices of the Diaspora.
If you would like to contribute to my classroom... here is my Amazon wish list: Wesselhoft Wishlist
Ms. Sagan, Science
Hi scientists!
Thank you all for your hard work this week – I can’t believe we’re so close to finishing our Plate Motion unit!
This past week we focused on our reasoning skills while discussing evidence of the existence of Pangaea. This upcoming week we will be wrapping up our unit and reviewing the concepts we’ve learned so far, culminating in our Plate Motion summative on Friday. Students will have access to blookets on Canvas by Monday, and will receive a study guide to help them prepare. Please check in with them to make sure they’re studying!
Roots – they're back!
We will be getting a head start on our 2nd Quarter roots this upcoming week. Your roots will be:
Centi = 1/100 (think centimeter, centiliter)
Milli = 1/1000 (think millimeter, milligram)
Hexa = 6 (think hexagon)
Octa = 8 (think octagon, octopus)
Deca = 10 (think decade)
Thank you to everyone who has supported the classroom so far - you rock! If you would like to donate to the science classroom, I have included a link to my Amazon wishlist below. I appreciate your support, whether it be through sending pencils, helping your child study for roots, or by checking Aspen. Thank you!

Team Abuja Tutoring
As the year goes on, we want to ensure that students are able to access help when they need it! Team Abuja teachers are available by appointment, and there is a dedicated Tutoring Time in either Mx. Gomez's room or Ms. Sagan's room on Wednesdays from 3:30 - 4:20. Here We Grow!
Deal Halloween Guidelines
Students may wear a school appropriate costume on October 31. Costumes may not interfere with learning. This means no masks or costumes that restrict movement or vision, prevent sitting at desks, or prevent participation in physical education class. Additionally, costumes must not obstruct movement in the hallways.
· Costumes may not promote violence or have accessories or props that could be used as a weapon.
· Masks are not permitted.
· Make-up or face-paints are permitted.
· You must be able to sit, walk, breathe, see and hear (no masks that cover the face).
· Costumes cannot promote use of drugs, alcohol or weapons of any kind.
· All school rules will be enforced (i.e., no bikes, skateboards, roller blades, etc.).
· Students should not wear costumes that make fun of others.
We are asking students to only bring 5 or fewer pieces of candy to school on November 1. Large bags of candy will be confiscated and returned to students after school.
