Message from Ms. Batista
Our Roadrunners have been hard at work. This week, Ms. Helse and I had the pleasure of joining grade levels during math and English Language Arts collaborative planning. Teachers are discussing teaching strategies that would best support student learning, they are reviewing student work samples to identify strengths and misconceptions, discussing questions that would lead to student critical thinking, and identifying visual aids that can serve as a reference during learning.
Our Staff Development Teacher, Ms. Fox, has collaborated with admin, parents, and the Instructional Leadership Team reflecting on the School Improvement Plan from the prior year and setting modified goals. You can find Rock View's 2024-2025 DRAFT School Improvement Goals linked here. To achieve our academic goals teachers are diligently implementing discourse- structured communication that fosters academic dialogue and idea exchange- and scaffolding, which provides support to help students gain independence in their learning. They are also engaging in regular data analysis to monitor our progress. Rock View is committed to offering professional development opportunities for our teachers to ensure we are continually improving for the benefit of all our learners. Additionally, the school is dedicated to strengthening relationships with our community through consistent communication and school events.
MCPS Operating Status and Color Codes
The safety of our MCPS community is critical, and being able to communicate with students, staff, and families during severe weather or other emergencies is of the utmost importance. Use the link below to find all the ways you can connect with MCPS to receive emergency operational information from the school system. The current operating status options for the school district appear on the MCPS website and on individual school websites. In the event of a change in operational status, this link will provide more information about the MCPS Operating Status options.
2024-2025 Student Handbook
In order to ensure a safe, productive, and positive learning environment, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) publishes these handbooks to help students, parents/guardians, and staff understand the Montgomery County Board of Education's core values and commitments; students' rights; school rules; expectations for student conduct; and the possible consequences for violating the rules. If you have questions, please speak to the administration at your school. If you have comments about any of these publications, please send them in writing to the MCPS Department of Communications at pio@mcpsmd.org.

MAP Testing continued...
Students participate in the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments. These assessments help us track individual student growth in reading and math throughout the year. Results are used to personalize instruction and support students in reaching their full potential. Please ensure your child arrives on time and is well-rested for testing days. We appreciate your partnership in supporting student success! Please use the following links to access more information about the assessment.
