Beach Haven Teacher of the Year!
I am so excited to receive this special honor. I am currently in my 16th year of teaching. I have previously taught kindergarten, basic skills, 2nd grade, and presently, 1st grade. I went to The College of New Jersey for my Elementary Education and Sociology degree and Georgian Court University for my Masters in Education and Supervision.
I love being a teacher at the Beach Haven School. It is such a special place to work and learn. Some of the accomplishments that I am most proud of include- creating the Beach Haven School Little Free Library for Children, starting the Butterfly Sanctuary and Green Thumb WIN club, organizing the Phillies Phanatic About Reading program, implementing Random Acts of Kindness sea shell project, serving as a mentor teacher to several student teachers, creating Friendship cards for nursing homes school-wide initiative, planning Read Across America week activities for the students and serving as the PTA liaison. I also love working alongside my wonderful colleagues on the School Climate Committee, ScIP Committee, Early Elementary, and Threat Assessment teams.
In addition, I value our special beach community and work very hard to educate our students on all our island has to offer by bringing in special programs such as Reclaim the Bay, visiting the LBI Field station, the Maritime Museum, and Viking Village. I especially love that the Beach Haven School encourages hands-on learning experiences, and I enjoy bringing my students to local community locations such as the police station, fire department, the library, and many other various establishments in Beach Haven. The community support makes teaching at the Beach Haven School a dream come true for me!
