September 2024
Message from the Directors
Dear Students, Families, and Friends,
Our September newsletter is a few days early because we are excited to share accomplishments and new developments with our community!
Did you know that last year, the Legacy Campus students:
- earned 695.5 high school credits
- earned 3,391 college/university credits
- received a 3.51 GPA for Legacy Campus classes
- had a 96% attendance rate
- saved families over $1,081,229 in college tuition
We are also hoping to grow! On August 13, 2024, DCSD staff recommended the funding options to the DCSD Board of Education. The Board is scheduled to vote on August 27, 2024. The bond would be an investment in school safety and security upgrades; Career and Technical Education opportunities for students; and updating, maintaining, equipping, replacing, and constructing educational facilities consistent with the district bond plan to provide safe and adequate learning spaces for students and staff, and to reduce overcrowding.
Legacy Campus improvements would include:
- Change-over Systems
- Hot Water Service
- Paving and Surfacing Parking Lot
- Roof Finishes
- Boilers
- Replace Chilled Water Systems Chillers
- Replace Chilled Water Systems Cooling Towers
- Phase II CTE Pathways : See below for more details on additional CTE pathways we will grow in Phase II of planning!
Plans for Phase II
Should the bond pass, the DCSD Legacy Campus would be expanding by 6 additional pathways, to include: Construction Trades, such as Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, etc. Additional pathways would include: Advanced Manufacturing, & Electric Vehicle/Hybrid Maintenance & Repair.

Legacy Campus Spotlight
Legacy Marketplace
Legacy Marketplace is now open! It features food made by our second year Culinary & Hospitality students and is served by students in the DCSD Bridge program. Come in to see the new menu including breakfast sandwiches, pastries, salads, sandwiches, drinks/coffee, grab-n-go items, & weekly specials!
Legacy Marketplace is open to the public and our new hours are Monday-Thursday 7am-1:30pm.
Student Repair Academy
We are thrilled to launch our new Student Repair Academy and classroom for our Secure Network Technology Pathway. Our student Repair Academy will be certifying high school students to repair computers for students and staff across DCSD. Thank you to DHE for the donation of computers for these students to start working on. Along with the DHE mentors who are working with our students, this provides a valuable hands on experience.
Attendance Line
For ANY absences or early dismissals the student's guardian will need to call Legacy Campus (303-387-7800) to excuse them from our classes in addition to calling the student’s primary high school. This is also applicable when a student might miss for a school-related absence such as clubs, activities, athletics, and field trips. Those events are not always communicated to our staff and attendance systems unfortunately do not translate school to school.
Girls in Aviation Day
Denver we are back for our 10th annual Mile High Chapter Girls in Aviation Day Sat Sept 21st 10am-2pm. This year we are excited to be hosted by Sheltair at Rocky Mountain Metro Airport (KBJC)
This event is open to all girls ages 8-18 to introduce the world of aviation and aerospace to our next generation of women. We will have interactive activities, demonstrations, and several members of the aviation community to help inspire our next generation of females.
Girls in Aviation Day has been instrumental in introducing girls all over the world to opportunities in aviation and STEM that they never would have considered. We work very hard to bring participants and role models together so girls can see themselves in those exciting roles.
Look Who Came to Work Today!
Ben Christensen isn't just playing dress up....he graduated from Ponderosa HS last year, and after taking Mr. Shallenberger's Building Controls classes at the DCSD Legacy Campus, landed a job with Carlton Electric. Ben was on the job here at Legacy helping install our new spaces in the architecture lab. We are proud of you Ben!
NEW Transportation Schedule
We have updated our van schedule with Noah Cares to accommodate the needs of our students. Thank you for your feedback and patience as we have navigated these changes. In order to run this updated schedule, times between schools will need to run tight. Students need to ensure they are at the designated checkpoint prior to the scheduled departure time as vans will not be able to wait. For more information and the link to register please visit our transportation page.
