Reminder for students to please bring utensils with in lunch everyday. The office does have supplies, but these are limited. We have seen many students forgetting lunches everyday, and encourage students to bring a snack to keep in their lockers in case of emergencies.

FSL 9 and Enterprise and Innovation 9 are partnering together host this year's holiday market and silent auction on Tuesday December 3rd from 4:30 - 7:30PM. There will be a holiday bake sale, silent auction, and several student-created businesses at the event. It's a one-stop holiday shop for baking and great Christmas gifts!

Some great items you will find at the auction: a signed Wayne Gretzky print, CAT bar stools, gift certificates to The Citadel, Browns Social House, Salisbury Greenhouse, Sunridge Ski Hill, Superstore, the Riverhawks, a Lucere gift set (valued at $500), The Keg, Frankie Salon, Dairy Queen, Shoot 360, and much much more. We’re only able to accept cash and cheque.

Silent Auction Donations

The grade 9 FSL class is currently looking for donations for the silent auction on December 3, 2024. If you would be willing donate an item, please contact Mrs. Getschel by email (crystal.getschel@eips.ca).

The Division will hold a virtual information session for all students in grades 7 and 8 and their families interested in learning more about the Junior High Honours program for the 2025-26 school year. Please visit the webpage for more information.

Student Transportation has busses that leave with students prior to the end of our school day. These busses use our parking lot and they have requested that we do not use this space for parent pick-up of students.

With the winter season here, we have a few reminders for families:

• Ensure students have clothing appropriate for expected weather conditions.
• If weather conditions are bad enough to impact student transportation, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) advises families directly, as well as posting on social media and eips.ca as early as possible.
• Decisions regarding bus cancellations are guided by an EIPS administrative procedure that states, “school bus service may be suspended…when there is a forecast or current temperature of -40 C, including wind chill factor, in one or more regions.”
• Other reasons for suspending or delaying school bus services include adverse weather and poor road conditions.
• When school bus services are suspended, schools remain open to students.

School fee information for the 2024-25 school year is now posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have certain fees waived. The application deadline is Dec. 16, 2024.

Do you know someone who may be interested in part-time, flexible work as a substitute educational assistant or substitute teacher in the specialty areas of French Immersion or CTS/CTF? Elk Island Public Schools is hiring. Spread the word!

Substitute teaching and non-teaching staff are critical to filling planning and unexpected vacancies when Division staff are away. Substitutes are needed to fill various positions at all school locations until the end of the school year. Upcoming application deadlines are December 12 and 13.
