You may request that your child be tested on the Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT). If you wish to have your child participate in this round oftesting, all requests must be made through the below online link by December 6th. If you have a child in 2nd and/or 4th grade, they will take the test during school with their class. For other grade levels, we are offering an optional testing opportunity. To sign up your child for this opportunity, please click here.
Please note it is the parents' responsibility to provide transportation to and from Maple Dale on morning of testing. Also please note Sycamore cannot use kindergarten or first grade scores for gifted placement.

CANNED FOOD DRIVE
The canned food drive starts November 1st and will end November 15, 2018. These cans provide needed food for families in our area during the holidays. Let’s all help take care of others by providing food to families who need our support. Please bring in Thanksgiving non-perishable foods starting today. Other food items always needed are corn, green beans, peas, baked beans, fruit, soup, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, ravioli, beef stew, chili, and cereal. Just have your student take their donated goods to the classroom for storage until Thursday, November 15 at which time they will be called to the cafeteria to bring their canned goods for donating.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Volunteers are needed to help sort and box our canned food collection on Thursday, November 15th from 9:30 am - 11:00 am in the cafeteria. If available, please contact Susan Linton at 686-1733 or email at lintons@sycamoreschools.org. Thank you!

Wednesday, January 16th at 9:30am!
I’m very excited that Bill Fritz, Director of Technology for the district, has agreed to speak at our next general meeting about kids, the internet, and what parents can do to keep them safe.
Please follow our private Facebook group, “Montgomery Elementary PTO” to learn about upcoming events and see photos of your children having fun experiences at school.
We have some big PTO events between now and the end of January! Please be on the lookout for paper flyers and S’more updates! As always we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without our amazing volunteers! Thank you!
Have questions before then please contact me, Kristy Felss, at mtpto@sycamoreschools.org.

MONTGOMERY MARKER CHALLENGE
Start cleaning out your craft closet and drawers!
Every year, millions of used markers are tossed in the trash and find their way into landfills. We can help reduce that number by repurposing used markers through the Crayola ColorCycle program.
Beginning November 5th students can bring in used-up markers, highlighters and dry erase markers (regardless of brand) for a chance to be crowned the "Green Heroes" of the school. No pencils or pens, please.
Each classroom will have its own small marker collection box. The first week of December the class with the largest collection of used-up markers will be announced as the winning class.
So let's make it Green, Montgomery....one marker at a time!
