Dear Families and Students,

I would like to congratulate everyone to completed the FSA Reading this week! We will continue with our assessment schedule next week! As a reminder that in order for students to have the opportunity to complete testing without running out of time, both campuses will be scheduled for a full day instead of the normal early release on the following Wednesday, May 8th and Wednesday, May 15th. This means our 7th Grade Orcas will be released at 2:48 PM and our 6th and 8th Grade Orcas will be released at 2:52 PM. We ask that you please plan appointments and afternoon pickups accordingly.

This week we held our annual "Teacher Appreciation Week" Celebration, we would like to thank everyone who volunteered and contributed to making our week a great success! We could not have done it without you!

As we begin to approach the end of the 2018-2019 School Year we ask that you please stay informed by following us on social media, reading our weekly reminder emails and newsletters. These are the best resources to stay connected!

8th Grade Orcas if you missed information that has been sent home regarding 8th Grade Graduation you may find it again in this week's newsletter. The last day to submit the 8th Grade Early Departure Form is 3 PM May 23rd, 2019.

It is also important to note that on the following days listed below we will not be holding our regular early release schedule, instead, we will follow our standard release schedule to allow more time for testing.

Dear family, friends, and community members,

OSS is heading to Nationals, and we need your help to get us there!

We are proud to announce that the Orlando Science Middle School Science Olympiad Team is heading to Nationals this May to represent the state of Florida. After taking home a 1st place prize at the State Competition, held at the University of Central Florida, their sights are now set on the National Competition in Ithaca, New York.

In order to make this dream a reality, the school is looking for dedicated individuals interested in "Sponsoring a Student." The sponsorship program will assist in costs associated with the travel, accommodations, and additional necessities for the team of 15.

Donations and sponsorship benefit details can be found through the link below. All donation processing will be made through Orlando Science’s School Pay Account. Please feel free to review our fundraising site at your convenience. The deadline for donation will be Friday, May 31st.

The Moving Across Literacy Challenge for the 2018-2019 School Year is officially underway! Each number listed below the grade level is the number of book slips grade level students have submitted that they read! For every 25th Book Slip submitted that student will win a small prize. There are many wonderful online resources students can use from any computer with their credentials. Orcas this is just a reminder that students interested in dressing down for their birthday must submit a "Birthday Dress Down Day" form found below two days prior to their birthday dress down day request. If a form is submitted less than the two days or is not submitted they will be considered out of dress code and they will not be approved to dress down.

Hello OSS Families!

Please remember that BOX TOPS are a wonderful FREE way to raise funds for our school. Each Box Top is worth $.10 and they really add up. Please make sure to continuously send these in so that I can mail them before their expiration dates. The monies received go to supporting our academic and sport teams, the PLTW (Project Lead the Way) along with many other OSS programs and classroom needs.
