Glen Acres Elementary School
June 8, 2025
Dear Families,
As we come to the close of another wonderful school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and partnership. This year has been filled with so much growth—academically, socially, and emotionally—for our students, and we could not have done it without the strength of our school community. From classroom celebrations to special events and daily learning moments, your involvement and encouragement have made a meaningful difference in your child's success.
It has been such a joy to watch our students develop their confidence, curiosity, and skills throughout the year. They have worked hard, shown resilience, and supported one another in countless ways. Our teachers and staff are so proud of the progress each child has made, and we know that growth doesn't stop just because summer has arrived.
As we head into the summer months, I encourage you to keep the momentum going by making time for reading and practicing math in fun, everyday ways. Whether it’s enjoying stories together, visiting the library, or playing math games during family time, these small moments make a big impact. Thank you again for all you do to support your children and our school—we are truly grateful. Wishing you a safe, restful, and joyful summer!

Annual Student vs. Staff Kickball Game
Glen Acres held their annual Student vs. Staff kickball game with Mrs. Runzer's fifth graders taking on the teachers. Students from all grades came out to cheer for the players. For the first time in the history of the game, the students came out winners, beating the teachers 8-7. Mrs. Runzer's class earned their spot to play as they raised the most money out of the three fifth grade classes for Jump Rope for Heart back in February.
Field Day
A huge shout out to Mr. Y and all of our amazing volunteers and spectators for making Field Day 2025 such a memorable and wonderful day!
Thank you to the PTO for the Kona Ice.
What a Great Day to Have Lunch Outside
Students purchased lunch with a friend from the Eagles' Nest with their Eagle Egg Dollars. Since the weather has been fabulous, they took their lunches outside with Mrs. Stewart!

Create a Summer Reading Routine with Your Child!
In the links below are Summer Reading Packets with lots of reading ideas for the summer months.
Summer is a great time to keep the joy of reading alive. Help your child grow as a reader by creating a simple reading routine at home! Set aside a special time each day—maybe after breakfast or before bed—for reading together or independently. Visit the library, explore books on topics your child loves, and talk about what you're reading. Just 20 minutes a day can make a big difference!
Reading together this summer builds skills, sparks imagination, and creates great memories.
Ways To Practice Math at Home
As we strive to support our students' academic growth, there are several effective ways to practice math at home that align with the Pennsylvania standards for Kindergarten through 5th grade. For our youngest learners, consider using everyday objects for counting, sorting, and simple addition or subtraction. Engaging in activities like cooking can help with measuring and understanding fractions. For students in grades 3-5, playing math games, solving puzzles, and using educational apps can enhance their skills in multiplication, division, and problem-solving. Encouraging your child to explain their reasoning during practice can deepen their understanding. Additionally, integrating math into daily routines, such as calculating time, money, or distances during family trips, makes learning practical and fun. Your involvement in these activities can greatly reinforce the math concepts taught in school and build a strong foundation for your child's academic success.
If you have access to technology, please note that your child will have access to IXL (2-5) and Happy Numbers (K-2) (for most of the summer) to practice targeted skills. Your child should use their passcodes that they used during the year.
New Student Registration
In the spring, we start to think about 2025/2026 enrollment, staffing, and scheduling. If you have a student who will be turning 5 on or before September 1st, please begin the school registration process now. Log into new student registration. You will need to upload the child's birth certificate, immunizations, two proofs of residency (one must be a copy of a current lease, mortgage statement or deed and the second should be a copy of a current utility bill, insurance, etc. dated within the past 30 days).
