We love the diversity of the Dewey student body. Our library is celebrating the origins, folklore, and customs of our many different heritages this month.

2024 | Annual Kwanzaa Theme and Founder's Message Title "Celebrating Kwanzaa in Difficult and Demanding Times: Lifting Up the Light that Lasts" Dr. Maulana Karenga Since Dr. Maulana Karenga initiated the practice of providing an annual Kwanzaa theme and Annual Kwanzaa Founder's Message, he has sought to offer a theme and message which serve as a framework and focus for the world African community to relate the principles and practices of Kwanzaa to enduring and current issues of life, work and struggle.

Spotlight on our partnership with the Brooklyn Public Library

The following resources are free from our Brooklyn Public Library. A library card is required. Our public librarian and our MyLibraryNYC librarian will be in the Dewey library periods 4 through 8 on December 18th to sign students and staff up for library cards. Take advantage of the programs for homework help, test prep and many other activities. All free with a library card.

Gale Presents: Peterson's Test and Career Prep

An online learning resource that offers a central hub for standardized test prep, college planning, career assessment, job searches, and more.

There is an English version of the website and a Spanish version.

Please note that you will need to create a username and password (no email address necessary).

Flipster

Get access to major magazines and journals to read on your smartphone, tablet, or PC. Check out Flipster's getting started guide here. To get the free Flipster app, search for "Flipster" in either Google Play or Apple's App Store

Join our book review team!

Review books for service credit. You can earn service credit for your reviews. Reviews will be posted in our online Destiny catalog and posted with QR codes in the books as well. Get your friends on the reading bandwagon with your honest assessment of our books.

Some changes in the library

New Policies

Our hours have changed. The library is open periods 1 through 8. This was necessary to keep the Makerspace open during all lunch periods.
Cell phones are no longer permitted. Chromebooks are available for check out.
