The Board of Education unanimously approved Dr. John Schwartz to be Millard's next superintendent. He is currently the superintendent of Norris Public Schools, and will begin in Millard when Dr. Sutfin retires this summer. Dr. Schwartz and his family attended last night's meeting. He is excited to join us and introduces himself below.

It is an honor to have been selected as the next superintendent for Millard Public Schools. I would like to thank the Board of Education for their support and the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community. I look forward to building relationships and learning more about the great work being done to serve students in the school district during the transition process. Millard has a longstanding tradition of educational excellence, and I am eager to join the team as we strive for higher levels in the years to come.

I would also like to thank Dr. Sutfin for his support and guidance. Together we have developed a detailed plan to ensure a smooth transition. We will collaborate throughout the spring, and my presence within the district will increase as the current school year draws to a close. The main focus for both of us over the next few months will be serving effectively in our current roles.

Our family is excited to make the move and proud to call Millard our new home. Our two sons will benefit from the strong educational program and array of opportunities available to MPS students. We have appreciated the warm welcome from so many of you, and we are eager to join the community this summer.

Millard Food Service provided a record number of meals over the school year. The Board received the Food Service Report at last night's meetings. The number of meals served for breakfast increased by fifteen percent from last year and lunch service grew by twenty-four percent from last year. Despite ongoing staffing and supply chain challenges, the food service department has been able to meet the demand.

Millard South Activities and Athletic Director Steve Throne has been named the State Athletic Director of the Year by the Nebraska Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.

The Millard Business Association honored Superintendent Dr. Jim Sutfin with the 2021 Project Wee Care Award. Dr. Sutfin is pictured with his wife, Julie Sutfin.
