It's an exciting time for us at Alice Vail, and we're thrilled to share some important updates and upcoming events with you.

Parent-Teacher Conferences:

We are excited to welcome all of our families to our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences, which will take place this week from September 18th to September 20th. These conferences are a wonderful opportunity for you to connect with your child's teachers, discuss their progress, and get valuable insights into their academic journey. Our dedicated educators look forward to sharing the amazing progress your students have made so far this school year.

Please note that on these conference days, school will dismiss at 12:45 PM. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in ensuring a smooth transition during these half-days.

Benchmark Testing:

As we move forward in the school year, we want to remind you that Benchmark Testing will begin on September 23rd. These assessments provide valuable information about your child's academic growth and help us tailor our instruction to meet their needs effectively. To ensure your child is ready to do their best, please make sure they get plenty of rest, eat a nutritious breakfast, and arrive at school ready to show us what they know.

We are confident that with your support, our students will excel in these assessments and continue to make great strides in their education.

Alice Vail Middle School

This District mandated program is designed to provide support to students who need extra help in reaching grade-level proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) and/or Math as measured by the Arizona Academic Standards Assessment or AASA. Students were selected based on their performance on the 2023-24 AASA for grades 4 - 8. Students may have bben chosen to participate in this program because she/he has a score(s) of Minimally Proficiency and/or Partially Proficient in ELA or Math.

We believe that with additional support and targeted instruction, your student can be nearer to or at grade level mastery on the AASA which will be administered in April 2025.

• 7:30-8:30 am M-F, Portable C - Ms. Willey

PM Tutoring

• M & Tues 4:00-5:00 pm, Portable C - Ms. Willey
• T & Th. 4:00-5:00 pm, Ms. Magee in Rm 103 and Ms. Giuffre in the Library

• All cellphones are in students' backpacks during the school day.

- Q1 Math Benchmarks: Tuesday, September 24th.

- Q1 Benchmark Makeups begin: September 25th.

ANY HEADPHONES USED FOR THE BENCHMARKS MUST BE WIRED (no Airpods or wireless ear pods)

October 4 - Grading Day - No School for Students

October 7-11 - FALL BREAK - No School

October 23 - TUSD Professional Learning Day - No School for Students

Hello from the PTSA!

Thank you for your support of the Falcons Dine Out at Portillo's last week. We haven't seen a fundraising total yet but it was great to see all of the Falcons families at the same place!

- Friday Snack Sales have been going great and we've raised over $200 in the past 3 weeks with our dollar snacks. No Snack Sales THIS Friday though- we will let you know when they return. If your kiddo needs a snack, head to the cafeteria for free snacks from the TUSD Food Services Team!

- September PTSA Meeting! Monday, September 23rd at 5:30pm in the AVMS Library and Google Meet. Parents and students (and siblings!) welcome! Check out the website for an agenda, Google Meet link, and minutes from the last meeting. We will be approving the budget and making plans for family activities this fall. To be a voting member of the PTSA, you can join on the website for as little as $5.50 for a budget membership. BUT! You do not need to be a voting member to attend, volunteer, or get involved!

- Check out our new website! We're still adding more info and pages but take a look and register for PTSA emails, view the activity calendar, join the PTSA, and more. It's hosted by a company called Givebacks that all Arizona PTA members use. Once you register, we can communicate with each other using Hubs, or groups, of people at Alice Vail. We'll be able to message all registered families in a certain grade, potential volunteers, or any specific interest. www.alicevailptsa.org
