Mustang Update
Student Success Meetings will be held next Monday (10/7) and Wednesday (10/9) night from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm! This year we have scheduled times for parents to meet with their child’s Seminar teacher to go over their current grades and Fastbridge scores. The remaining time in the session can be used to visit with other staff members that your child may also have. We would really like to see 100% participation for this event so we hope to see all of you next week. Please also remember that we have no school on Friday because of the conferences but we will still host a high school football game on that night!
Ms. Jones, Ms. Tryon and our cast and crew are getting ready for the fall production of “Doo Wop Wed Widing Hood”! Performance dates are November 8th and 9th at 7:30 pm and November10th at 2:00 pm. Here is a little trivia about this specific play! Ms. Jones was actually a cast member for this show when she was nine years old! How fitting! Her first show as an actress and now her first show as director.
Our fall sports programs are still having success and showing improvement! High school volleyball placed second in the 10 team Axtell tournament this past weekend and then turned around to defeat Frankfort and Axtell in a road game on Tuesday. We invite all of you join us for last regular season game this Tuesday night when we host Linn in a double dual! Tuesday night is also Parent Appreciation Night for the Mustangs! Our football team moved to 3 and 1 on the season with a big win over Sacred Heart-Salina on Friday night and will be travelling to Bennington tonight for a district match-up! They will also be celebrating Parent Appreciation Night when we host Herrington! Come on out and cheer on the Mustangs this coming week! Our junior high cross-country runners are improving their times and competed at a very tough Rock Creek meet this past week. Langston Gray turned in a 2nd place finish in the 8th grade boy’s race and Emma Warders placed 4th in the 8th grade girl’s race! Our junior football and volleyball teams traveled to Washington County this week to take on the Tigers. Our varsity and “B” teams swept their matches with convincing wins. The football team played one of their best games of the season to earn the win over the Tigers. Still plenty of fall action left on the schedule so make plans now to join us and help us cheer on the Mustangs!
Good news! Our Mustang is very close to being repaired and replaced in the very near future. We had some difficulty in getting this project accomplished but Ryan was able to find someone willing to do the work! We have some pictures of the repair work in this week’s newsletter. We hope to have Blaze back in his rightful place as our mascot. Thank you to all of you for your patience with this project!!
Our FFA Chapter has started their annual Meat and Fruit Sales this week. They also have meat sticks, gifts and cookie dough on their list this year! If you do not have an FFA member call on you this year please call the school or email Ms. Husband at chusbgand@valleyheights.org and we will direct a member in your direction.
Two of our students - Aubrey Umscheid and Anne Toerber have been putting together a video they are calling "Keeping up with the Mustangs"! The video is then post on YouTube and can be watched by everybody. The video is usually uploaded at noon on Friday. These students have been doing a fantastic job with the project which is part of our Video Production class. They have information about things happening within our building along with news and event updates! And... they add their own spin on things with a touch of humor each week! Tune in and "Keep Up" with the Mustangs!
Have a great week!
