Principal's Message
👋 Dear Booth Hill Families,
This past week and a half have been exciting times at BHS! From field trips to classroom celebrations, new learning to supporting our community. We have so much to be thankful for! Students, staff, families... you are all in my thoughts as I reflect upon what I am so grateful for this Thanksgiving season. Thank you for welcoming me as a part of this wonderful community. This newsletter is dedicated to that theme and filled with photos that give me pride, joy, and appreciation.
Warm regards,
Kevin Chase
Student Spotlight
In our First Grade Sky Watchers Science Unit, students explored and learn about Earth’s place in the universe. Students observed patterns in the sky, and studied how rotation causes day and night. They learned about revolution and seasons. Students even observed the night sky to learn about the phases of the moon. To end this unit, students worked together to teach the class what they learned. They picked a topic, planned, and created a poster to present to the class.
We also had a Second field trip to Stepping Stones in Norwalk, a Friendship Gathering in First Grade, and some Thanksgiving feasts in kindergarten!
We also celebrated our Summer Mathletes who participated in the Math Summer Olympics!
Transportation Update
In order to better serve our students and families, we have implemented a new bus tracking system that should resolve the issues we have been experiencing with “Bus Tracker”. It is called BusZone ®.
It allows you to view your students current school bus location and information about the route in near real time, including the scheduled and estimated times to your stop. Please refer to the transportation page on the TPS website for instructions on downloading and using the app.
https://www.trumbullps.org/departments/transportation
Activation can take up to 48 hours, so please download and set up your app as soon as possible. Accounts set up today should be active on Monday 11/11/24.
The app contains a very helpful support option. You will find the answers to most questions there and the ability for contact Durham directly if needed.
Please let us know if you have any question.

Father's Club & PTA Update
THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the 2024 BHS Dance-A-Thon such a success! Thanks to your generosity and enthusiasm, we surpassed our fundraising goal and had an unforgettable time celebrating together. Thank you to our amazing sponsors, some of whom are new this year while others have generously supported us year after year. Their continued commitment to our school is truly appreciated!
Congratulations to Kamilla Bork and the Dance-A-Thon committee for making the BHS Dance-A-Thon such a successful and memorable event!
We are working on ordering the final prizes and hope to distribute them to students by the end of the year!
Holiday Boutique
The annual PTA Holiday Boutique will be on December 5th & 6th. This festive event is the perfect opportunity for students to do their holiday shopping for family and friends! Gift prices range from $0.25 to $14.50. This is a cash only event.
Volunteers are needed to help set up the boutique, to help students with their shopping, and to wrap gifts. Due to the popularity of this event, please sign up for only one volunteer shift. Please make sure you have completed your volunteer form.

School Attendance
As a school community, we continually strive to promote regular attendance at Booth Hill. We welcome and appreciate open communication between school and home; therefore, please reach out if you need assistance with getting your child to school each day and in a timely fashion. Parent and school partnerships enable us to best support our students to ensure success at school.
"Chronically absent is defined as "a child who accumulated a total number of absences at any time during the school year that is equal to or greater than ten percent (10%) of the total number of days that such student has been enrolled at the school during the school year."
Please refer to board policy 5113.1 on our website for more information. https://www.trumbullps.org/board-of-education/policy
As always, thank you for your support.
