Welcome Back to School
2024-2025
Principal's Welcome Back
Dear SWS Community,
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family well and that you are enjoying a wonderful summer. As we prepare to open our doors for the 2024-2025 school year, I want to extend a warm welcome back to all of you.
Please read the welcome letter from our new interim superintendent, Dr. Lydia Furnari. Dr. Furnari's letter can be accessed below or by clicking here.
In just a few weeks, we will be opening our doors for the 2024-25 school year. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our facilities/custodial team and administrative office staff for all their hard work this summer. The efforts they put in during the summer months significantly impact our success throughout the school year and their dedication is truly appreciated.
This year promises to be filled with exciting opportunities for learning and growth. Our dedicated team of teachers and staff have worked tirelessly over the summer to create a nurturing and engaging environment where students can thrive academically and personally. We are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
Be sure to mark your calendars for our Open House on August 29 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and families to explore their classrooms and meet their teachers, helping to ease any first-day jitters.
IMPORTANT - All our families must complete their annual registration in our Realtime Parent Portal before the first day of school. Portal registration must be completed for each child, and a sign-off on these documents is required for children to join us on the first day of school. See below for more information on how to log into the Parent Portal.
Thank you for your continued support and trust in our school. It is an honor to serve as your principal, and I am excited to work with you to create an exceptional year of learning and growth for all our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Welcome back to what promises to be a fantastic school year!
Sincerely,
Brooke Phillips
Principal/Supervisor of Special Education

Fall Open House
We are pleased to announce that, this year, we will be hosting an open house so that students and families may visit the school before the first day. Families are welcome to stop in to see their classrooms and say hello to teachers. An adult must accompany all students.
Open House - August 29
2-3pm for grades Prek-6.
Our preschool open house will be more structured. At 2:15 p.m., the school nurse and counselor will visit the classroom, and at 2:30 p.m., preschool students can board a school bus, practice buckling seat belts, and ride around the parking lot. An email with more information about the open house was sent to preschool parents.
First Day of School Info.
The first day of school is September 3, 2024. Arrival begins each day at 8:15 AM, with Homeroom starting at 8:23 AM. Morning announcements will be on the air at 8:25 AM each day.
Staff are positioned throughout the building and around the premises to welcome students and direct them to their appropriate classrooms.
Dismissal is at 3:10 PM. Please be mindful that during the first week of school, the buses may be delayed as they acclimate to their routes. Therefore, it is suggested that you arrive at your assigned stop 10-15 minutes early.
More detailed information on 23-24 school year procedures can be found in the Annual General School Information Letter on the Realtime Parent Portal, or it can be viewed by clicking this link.
