Dear TC Families and Detroit Lions Faithful,

I hope this message finds you well, warm, and enjoying the weekend! Before we get into the meat of this week's Gazette, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your continued support and involvement in our school community. As you know, our theme this year is TEAMwork and week after week, our students, staff, and families model what it means to be a team player and to show up for one another.

We've also banded together in support of our hometown football team. Sadly, this past weekend, we witnessed the end of our Detroit Lions' season, but that reminded me of the incredible value of teamwork. At Thornton Creek, we share this same spirit. Just like the Lions, we understand that when challenges arise, it's our drive, determination, and grit that help us push through.

Together, we inspire our students to give their best, even when the going gets tough. Thank you for being an essential part of our team's success!

We are once again partnering with the high school, specifically with a student named Rithisha, to collect books for students in need. Please see the information below for more details and feel free to also communicate this in your classroom newsletters:

From January 13th to March 3rd, we will be hosting a book drive to benefit Birdie’s Book Mobile, a program dedicated to providing books to children and families in need in Detroit. We are collecting new and gently used books for K-12 readers. Books such as picture, early chapter, middle-grade, and YA books are accepted. Please note that we cannot accept textbooks, adult books, or encyclopedias. Donation bins will be located inside the school.

Let’s come together as a school community to make a difference, one book at a time!

Winter is here and many students are wearing winter boots to school. Friendly reminder to please send your child(ren) to school with gym shoes on their designated PE days. Students without gym shoes will not be able to participate during PE class. Thank you for your understanding and support!

Northville Youth Lacrosse spring registration is now open for 5th grade boys! Welcoming all skill levels and running from late March to early June.
