PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tēnā koutou
A big thank you to everyone who supported the school disco. I would like to take the time to thank Nick, Jemma and their team from Four Square Pāpāmoa Beach. They donated all the food that was for sale and also spent the whole evening selling it for us. Please support this amazing local business as they have been so wonderfully supportive of us!
The disco was a huge success with a great turnout and we raised $4267.50. Everyone had a great time!
Prefabs are gone!
The prefabs have finally been removed! I can’t express how pleased I am! We are now waiting for the Ministry of Education to clear up the site so that we can prefer to get our turf put done. I am very excited to see this area finally become what we have planned for it!
Playground
Weather permitting both playgrounds will be up and running by next week. This has been a really long wait so it is exciting to see the soft fall completed. If the weather is fine this week, we should be able to let tamariki play on it next week. Another great win!
Fun Run update
Congratulations on everyone’s hard work with sponsorship for the fun run. So far we have around 300 tamariki signed up and we have had $30,240 pledged. What an incredible effort!
Last week we reached our first target of $15,000 and yesterday we had a lunchtime disco for everyone. Today we have reached our second target of $30,000! Each team is going to have a sports afternoon as their reward. Congratulations! We are halfway there!
Keep it coming! It is not too late to sign up. Simply go to schoolfunrun.co.nz and create a student profile page. We can’t wait to get enough money to install our new mindfulness area!
Teacher Only Day - 18 September
This is Monday of the last week of school. Staff will be focussing on their First Aid training.
Major Event for Term 3
This term we have planned a major community event. Last year we had a school production, this year we are excited to be working on a film festival! It is likely to be in the last week of the term. Watch this space for more details as they come to hand.
Talent Quest
Our school finals are on 13 September. We are excited to share the talent we have at GSS!
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)
This week’s focus is about appropriate Brain Break Behaviour and BIKE WEEK. These are the ideas that we are discussing in class with tamariki.
I know to play in the right place at the right time during BB
I can return to class promptly
I will seek help from adults, when needed
I can patiently take turns on the playground equipment and slide, giving everyone a chance to use it
I will wear a helmet when I use my ‘wheels’ at school
I will act in a way that is safe and respectful to myself, others and the environment
We would love you to talk to your child about these ideas. Thanks for your support.
Have a great week everyone

Reserve path alongside school is closed for surveys for three weeks from Monday 31 July
As part of a council project, some geotech surveying will be done from 31 July to 21 August. This survey assesses what’s underground by drilling small holes. As this is a narrow section, to do this work safely the path will be closed for the duration of the survey.
Access to school is unchanged at the front.
Communication Streams
If you have not joined our Facebook group, please search for it and request to join. This is a closed group so you will be asked who the children you are connected to are. We share lots of real-time information here with photos and updates included.
