Mr. Mauck's Musings
The heat is back just in time for the first home football game. It should be a good one as the Cats look to defeat the Memorial Tigers. We have a number of athletic contests coming up this week. Tomorrow the girl's golf team will host the Tony Blessinger Invite. Monday the girls are back in action at Buffalo Trace at 5:30. The boy's soccer team will host Evansville Central at 6 and Memorial will be back at Jasper for the JV football matchup. On Tuesday you can catch boy's tennis and another girl's soccer contest. Friday tennis is back in action along with varsity football against Evansville Harrison. Saturday tennis and the third girl's soccer match both begin at 10. Make sure you activate your activity pass to gain access to all the action. Good luck to all our student athletes this week.
Congratulations to Riley Foy and Mr. Evan Elrod on their selection as our Student and Staff Member of the Week. Mrs. Knust's Ag class was busy learning the digestive system with colorful aprons. The Guidance Department has several announcements for parents and students. There is a Latino Parent meeting on Wednesday, the 28th at JES beginning at 6 pm. Check out their Senior and Junior class presentations. The Freshmen will begin registering for Ivy Tech dual credit classes next week. October 9th is the school SAT and PSAT day. We encourage all Juniors and Seniors considering attending college to take the test. Signups are in the Guidance Office. Student Council will be holding Final Homecoming elections next week. Congratulations to all those who earned a nomination. A reminder to all students that JHS is again offering free breakfast for anyone. Stop by in the morning and pick up some breakfast and fruit.
Finally, there are several community events of interest for our students. There is a Latino Culture Fest, a Public Safety Meeting, Mentors for Youth, Dubois County Cares, and Crane STEM information all provide below.
