Message from Mr. Burns
Hi Wims Families,
I don't want. to jinx it, but we might have turned a corner with the winter weather. It was nice to walk our dog, Tucker, this weekend without my winter coat, hats, and gloves. I guess we will see what Mother Nature has in store the next few weeks:)
As a reminder, our rescheduled PRIDE assemblies will take place on Wednesday. If your child is being recognized, you would have received an email a few weeks ago.
Have a great week!
-Mr. Burns
Read Across America Week
Classroom teachers are looking for volunteers to read one book of your choice to their class. Most classroom teachers have chosen to have one or two readers every day from Monday, March 3- Friday, March 7, 2025. Find your child's teacher in this Google doc and click on the link to go to their schedule. Remember, third, fourth, and fifth grade students have one teacher in the morning and a different teacher in the afternoon. If you have questions about the schedule, please contact your child's teacher. You're welcome to bring a picture book from home or borrow one from the public library or Wims library. If you have questions about a book, please contact Mrs. Hall, our media specialist.

From the PTA Board
Dear Wildcats,
This is our last call for submissions for the Yearbook Cover Contest - due in the front office by 4pm on Friday. Artwork should be bright and colorful, demonstrating Wims P.R.I.D.E. or “Together We Will,” and incorporate our school colors (navy blue/ lime green). Only original art may be turned in (no photos or stock files), on an 8.5 x 11 paper in “portrait” orientation.
The PTA Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations for the roles of PTA President and Vice President. Nominations are due by March 28. The role of President must be filled for the Wilson Wims PTA to exist. The PTA is a very important part of our school culture, and our students look forward to the events we sponsor throughout the year. We need dedicated individuals who are willing to continue this work. Please read on for information on how to nominate.
We would like to extend a HUGE thank you & congratulations to all the students that participated in this year's Spelling Bee! Each student did an amazing job and should be incredibly proud of their hard work and achievement. This year’s bee saw record participation from 3rd Grade. It was the first time we were unable to finish the bee in the time allotted (it was completed the next morning in Mrs. Prange’s room) and went through the entire list of words studied! The PTA would like to thank our new Spelling Bee Chair, Ashley Lewis, for all of her hard work to make the bee possible.
Special shout out to the champions from each grade level:
3rd - Grace Naik
4th - Jaina Gandhi
5th - Abhay Devaguptapu
Abhay will be representing Wilson Wims at the Regional Spelling Bee on March 6 at The Landon School. Good luck Abhay - we are all rooting for you!
Have a wonderful week!
~ Ashley Zuraf, President

NOMINATIONS FOR 2025-27 EXECUTIVE BOARD: DUE MARCH 28
The WWES PTA Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations for the role of President and Vice President for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years (each position is a 2-year term). Serving on the Executive Board is a wonderful way to connect with our Administration, staff, students, and parent community. The current and past board(s) are extremely proud of the PTA that we have built and it's time to turn over the reins to a new parent! If you know of someone you think would be a great fit to continue our wonderful work on the PTA, please complete this nomination form no later than March 28. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged. Thank you for being willing to serve your school community!
BINGO NIGHT: FRIDAY, APRIL 4
Save the date for this crowd favorite! Bingo Night is scheduled for Friday, April 4 from 5:30-7:30pm in the All Purpose Room. Proceeds from Bingo Night benefit the promotion activities of our 5th Grade Class. The link to register for this free, annually sold-out event will be shared soon in a future Sunday message, so please look out for that.
