Falcon's Nest
Alcova Elementary School
March 1, 2024
Dear Alcova Community,
March is here, and we are in full swing in the second semester of school. We will start the month with parent conferences taking place during the week of March 4-8. If you have not signed up for a parent conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher or go to the Alcova website. Parent-teacher conferences are an essential component of two-way communication between the school and families. This partnership is important to the overall success of your child.
Come to the Parent Center on Wednesday, March 6th, from 1:00-5:30 to learn about the Georgia Milestone Test for grades 3-5. This is a chance for you to receive individualized support with questions you have as a parent. You can also learn how you can help your child practice online at home. In January, all students took the I-Ready Diagnostic Assessment in reading and math. This past Monday, we celebrated students who met or exceeded their mid-year I-Ready Stretch goals. Each child has access to complete I-Ready reading and math lessons at home. These lessons will provide individualized instruction to your child based on their most recent I-Ready progress. Click on the link for a video explaining the difference between typical and stretch growth on I-Ready Assessments. Working with your child to complete additional I-Ready lessons at home will support them to meet their typical and stretch growth goals. Students will have another chance to meet their instructional goals when they take the end-of-year Diagnostic Assessment, April 15-19.
