Purdys 2024 Fundraiser
It’s that time again!! Our Christmas 2024 Purdys Chocolate Fundraiser starts today!
This is a big fundraiser for us as Lorne Akins gets 25% back in profits from the total chocolate sold! That’s a huge amount of money for us to be able to put toward technology and other school programs.
Last Christmas we surpassed our total sales goal and raised $2,766 for our school.
Purdys has made it very simple for us. Each student gets a unique order number. You will see this on the sheet your student will be bringing home. You can pass this number on to your family and friends and make sure they enter this number when they place their online orders. Add your student’s name to the “additional information” spot and your student gets the credit for any order submitted.
Every time someone places a chocolate order using your student’s unique order number, a ticket will go into our prize draw box. At the end of our fundraiser, we will be making draws from all tickets entered. That way, everyone has a chance to win!
The last day for ordering will be November 20!
2025-2026 Calendar
We have a draft 2025-2026 calendar that includes a week-long fall break, based on the feedback we received from the survey we did last spring. We are asking for additional feedback from parents on the draft. Please click on the link below for more info.

Food Bank Collection
Last year our Veterans Food Bank collection was so successful & so well received that we are doing it again this year in the lead up to Remembrance Day. Each TA has been assigned a category to try & get as much variety as possible. Please see below the list of items for each TA, we are just sending this list out a little early to give families the opportunity to pick up an item or two if they are able to. Please send items into school with your child between October 29th & November 6th. As always we appreciate all of your help Gator Families!
Food Hampers
As the holiday season draws near, our school community is preparing to lend a hand to families who may need extra support. This year, we’re organizing our annual WINTER Food Hamper Drive to share a bit of holiday cheer and help ease the season's burdens.
If your family would benefit from receiving a food hamper, we encourage you to reach out to us directly. The process is completely confidential, and our aim is simply to offer support to those who could use it. Each hamper will include essential food items to help make the season a little brighter.
To request a food hamper for your family, please email Michelle Sutton (michelle.sutton@spschools.org) or complete this form by NOVEMBER 14th.
Healthy Hunger Lunches
Our next Healthy Hunger lunch is on Friday, Nov. 8 (Edo). Please make sure to place your order by Sunday, Nov. 3 at midnight!
Use this link to place your order https://healthyhunger.ca/index.php please make sure you know your students Homeroom/TA number before setting up your account as you will need this to create your students profile.
If your child is away and has ordered hot lunch, please email or call the office by 11 am to direct your child's hot lunch. It can be given to a sibling/another student or can be picked up at the office.
Gator Gear
Get your Gator Gear and show your LA spirit! Order through this link & your items will be delivered to Lorne Akins office for you to collect!
Attendance
If your child will be absent, please email la@spschools.org or call 780-460-3728 (this is 24 hrs and you can leave a voicemail)
If a student needs to leave early, the office MUST hear from a parent/guardian. Please email or call the office and we will allow the student to sign out & meet you outside (or walk home).
If a student will arrive late, they are to sign in at the office. If we have been informed the student will be late, it will be an excused late. Without hearing from a parent, the student would be marked as unexcused.
If you have any questions, please ask the office.
