PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
This week, May 6-10, is National Teacher Appreciation Week. We have an awesome group of teachers and support staff at Paonia K8 School!! Our staff has high expectations for students, and it shows in how our students perform at a myriad of events including:
- Leading the district and state in academic achievement and growth
- Team accomplishments at interscholastic events such as Science Olympiad, Math Counts, Knowledge Bowl, National History Day, and Destination Imagination
- Athletic success at middle school athletic events
PK8 has a tremendous track record of success, and that foundation is built with the teachers and staff that teach our children every day.
Please make sure to thank your teachers this week for their commitment, work ethic, and expertise in, and around, the classroom.
Our Paonia Parents Organization has a week of celebrations for the PK8 staff this week. PPO can still use some support. PPO will be supplying a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday, May 8th. Please sign up at the link below to bring in a breakfast item from the list of options.
Please have your student check Lost and Found. We have dozens of hoodies and jackets (most of them middle school sized)

I Matter Mental Health Services
About I Matter
Colorado House Bill 21-1258 established I Matter in 2021 to provide access to mental health and substance use disorder services for youth, and to address needs that may have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic. I Matter is open to youth 18 or younger, or 21 years of age or younger if receiving special education services.
In May 2023, the Colorado State Legislature renewed I Matter to provide free therapy for youth through June 30, 2024.
I Matter is managed by the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration. I Matter provides up to six free therapy sessions for youth in Colorado and reimburses participating licensed therapists.
