SCC Provided the Gateway to Fulfilling Career for Tamara Turner
Tamara speaks fondly of her SCC experience. "Without SCC, I would not have been able to finish my required classes on time to get the promotion I was working towards." That promotion moved Tamara from the mailroom to the opportunity to be a licensed insurance agent. Since attending SCC, she has been with the same employer for 22 years and is now a Risk Management Director. Tamara also has an LLC and provides consulting services to individuals and small businesses. Read More
Will Abbott’s Nonprofit Passion Bolsters Youths’ Futures
Will Abbott, an Artichoke alumn, is on a mission to give Arizona’s youth the tools they need to succeed. Will is the Vice President of Development at Junior Achievement of Arizona (JAAZ), a Tempe-based nonprofit that works to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. At JAAZ, volunteer mentors from the community teach students about the importance of money management, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurial thinking. Read More
Phoenix Rising Football Club Game
Come out to Maricopa Community Colleges Night at Phoenix Rising Football Club (FC) on Saturday, October 19th at 7:30 pm. Phoenix Rising FC is the highest-level professional soccer franchise in Arizona history and the 2023 USL Championship winners. Scottsdale College Promise Program Provides Financial Support for Scottsdale Students
Scottsdale residents and students graduating from a Scottsdale-based high school are eligible to apply for the Scottsdale College Promise. It is a last dollar public education outreach effort providing financial support for Scottsdale students to attend community college. SCC is the anchor institution for the program, however, students who receive funding can attend any school within the Maricopa Community College District. Read More

SCC is ready to help accelerate students into careers in tech support through the newly announced IT Helpdesk Level 1 Microcredential Pathway. This program will prepare students with the skills they need to succeed in assisting individuals and organizations to solve their inevitable tech challenges. Register today for this non-credit course designed for Senior Adults stepping into the use of technology. Virtual Career Resources and Opportunities
SCC alumni are invited to participate in the Virtual Career Fair on October 29 and October 30th from 12 to 2 pm to meet with recruiters, learn about available positions, and ask questions. Employers want you to join their team. SCC Career Services provides alumni with resources and opportunities that support successful transition to industry, community, or professional paths. Check out the Career Services website for guides and samples to assist with the preparation of resumes, interviews, cover letters, and more.
Fine & Performing Arts - 2024-2025 Season
Welcome to the Fine and Performing Arts 2024-2025 season at SCC. Performances and exhibits in art, dance, film, music, and theatre make up SCC's extensive Fine and Performing Arts season and are featured in the newly published Fine & Performing Arts brochure. All events are open to the public, and many are free of charge (see event descriptions for details).
ARTICHOKE ATHLETICS

Our fall sports teams are gearing up for an outstanding season. Two of the three programs have earned a spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) preseason national rankings. The Artichokes volleyball program is coming off its second straight NJCCA runner-up finish. The #6 ranked SCC volleyball program is 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference. The women's soccer program enters the 2024 season with the #12 ranking in the NJCAA Division II preseason poll. Thus far, their overall record is 5-2-1 and 5-2 in the conference.
