IMPORTANT! WASC Parent/Guardian Survey
Eagle, Families!
John Glenn High School is currently going through the WASC Self-Study process to get ready for our WASC visit in February 2025. WASC is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, which is the accrediting organization for high schools and colleges on the West Coast.
The WASC process is important because it:
- Validates the integrity of the school’s program and student transcripts
- Facilitates transfer of credits to other English-speaking schools — critical for college/university acceptance worldwide, as well as when a student transfers to another high school.
- Fosters the continuous improvement of the school’s programs and operations to support student learning
- Assures a school community that the school is a trustworthy institution for student learning
Your input is very important to this process. Please complete the WASC Parent/Guardian Survey linked below. To complete the survey, please click the link below or go to: tinyurl.com/WASC-Parent
If you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. Mendoza, Asst. Principal.

JGHS Alumna Inspires Seniors to Go to College
JGHS Class of 2024 Alumna, Ingrid Bautista, visited JGHS on Friday, 12/6, to speak to our current seniors in CSULB's Upward Bound Program about life at a 4-year university. Ingrid is currently a freshman at CSU, Long Beach and earned a full scholarship along with additional funds to support her while she pursues her 4-year degree. She was part of the Upward Bound Program while at JGHS, which supports First Generation College Students at both JGHS and SEA.
Ingrid talked to students about the process she went through to choose CSULB, her transition from high school to college, and her experience as a 1st year college student. In addition, she gave students advice about how to be successful at a university, such as making friends on the first day to study and share the journey with. Ingrid also encouraged students to be prepared to feel uncomfortable and explained how being uncomfortable is part of growth.
Exactly 6 months to the day of her high school graduation from JGHS, Ingrid spoke with the maturity of a self-assured Eagle who is paving a bright future for herself and future generations in her family. We are so proud of her hard work, of her continued commitment to the Glenn Family, and to the wonderful accomplishments she will have in her future. Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle!
October Student Awards
Congratulations to our October Student Award recipients! Keep up the hard work!
NO Cell Phone Use During Instructional Time
Eagles, this is a reminder that cell phones and other electronic devices are not permitted during instructional time. Our schoolwide cell phone policy states that ALL CELL PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES MUST BE TURNED OFF AND OUT OF SIGHT DURING CLASS/INSTRUCTIONAL TIME. This means students should not use their phones at any point during class time, even if they step out of the classroom to use the restroom or go to the office. Starting Monday, 10/28, if you need to use the restroom during class time, your phone should remain in the classroom.
Cell phones and other devices, such as airpods, are permitted during snack and lunch, as well as before and after school. We take your education seriously and want to support your undivided attention to instruction and classwork. Thank you for your attention to this important expectation.

ATHLETICS
Student Athlete Profile
How long have you been playing basketball ?
This is my first year playing at the high school level. But I always played even when I was a young kid, around 7 years old. I can play anywhere on the court really, but mostly as a guard.
What is your favorite basketball memory so far ?
When I got my first steal playing varsity, it was only our second game. I had to react quickly, and I just remember I had to snatch the ball as fast as I could. I really like playing the defensive part of the game and being physical.
What are your plans after high school ?
I want to got to a good school. Hopefully a university that is little far, but still in California. However, I would love to attend UCLA. I do know that I want to study law-enforcement though.
Who is your favorite teacher ?
I would say Master Sargent Allard. He is always there for us and he checks up on me. Overall I appreciate his support.
