The Pritchett Post -- 2/28/25
Home of the Panthers!
“The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as we continue to live.” —Mortimer Adler
Dear Pritchett Families,
Beginning on February 18, students and teachers across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the ninth annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. To take the survey please click the button below to begin.
As a reminder Spring Break will take place from March 24th to March 28th with school resuming on March 31st. This break is a wonderful opportunity for students to recharge and spend time with family. As we approach this time off, we encourage everyone to maintain strong attendance and engagement in the weeks leading up to it.
Finally, we enjoyed highlighting February's trait of good character, friendship. In March, we will focus on the trait of cooperation. When a teacher sees a student demonstrating cooperative behavior, that child will be acknowledged by having their name and action shared during morning announcements. Afterward, the student will come to the office and will be given a green bracelet. The green bracelet is our way of congratulating children for modeling the important character trait of cooperation.
Take care and be well,
Dr. Moreland -- Principal
A Memorable Author Visit at Pritchett!
What a wonderful time our students had during Mike Boldt’s visit on Tuesday! The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to him read his new book, CANtaloupe and HoneyDO Bake a Cake, and were amazed as he created a unique drawing using only triangles. After the assembly, Mike spent time in our school library signing copies of his book for students.
A special thank you to Ms. Boznos, our librarian, for arranging this fantastic event and creating such a memorable experience for our students. We are so grateful for opportunities like this that inspire a love of reading and creativity!

Family Reading Night!
What a heartwarming and memorable evening we shared at our Family Reading Night on February 19! It was wonderful to see so many of you gathered in our school library, creating special moments together.
Our evening began with the a reading of the Ukrainian folktale The Mitten by Jan Brett. Families enjoyed listening to this beautifully illustrated story that brought the magic of winter to life. The story’s themes of sharing and community perfectly set the tone for the night.
After the reading, families worked together to craft their own mitten sun catchers. These colorful creations were a lovely way to let the light of winter shine in our homes and remind us of the warmth we find in spending time with loved ones.
A huge thank-you to Ms. Blair and Ms. Boznos for organizing such a delightful event. Their hard work and creativity brought much joy to our families and made this night one to remember.
We look forward to seeing you all at our next Family Reading Night. Until then, keep reading and creating wonderful memories together!

Principal Input Form
It is hard to believe, but we need to start thinking about some preliminaries regarding class building for the 2025-2026 school year. If you are interested in providing information about your child for the purpose of placement, you may complete the “Principal Input Form” by clicking HERE.
This is the only form that can be submitted for this school year, and it is due by Friday, March 21. Please note, we will not accept emails or personal letters regarding placement.
Here are a few guidelines to consider when filling out the form:
We strive to create classes that are well-balanced. Our classrooms are “built” by the previous year’s teacher team to achieve the goal of creating a group of students covering all ability, performance, social and emotional levels as well as other characteristics reflecting the total child.
Please do not request a specific teacher for next year. Letters that contain a specific teacher’s name for class placement will not be used in the placement process.
Please do not request a friend. Teachers will build classrooms with learning partners in mind.
Third-Grade Parents: The teachers will be collaborating with Tripp staff to build the fourth-grade classes. Their expectation is to create classes that are heterogeneous in ability, balanced with boys and girls, Pritchett and Tripp children. This is a time to establish relationships and grow into “one class” with the students from Tripp School. Please let your child know that this is an exciting time and a welcome opportunity for growth. If you would wish to provide information to Meridian, please complete the “Meridian School Principal Input Form” by clicking HERE.

In an 'emergency' situation you may contact Ms. Barraza by phone or email. Unfortunately, we will not be able to honor any changes after 2:00 p.m.
