Principal's Message

Dear Swift-Slaybaugh Families,

Happy last day of May! It is very hard to believe that we can say that. We are officially finished with both field days and every field trip! They all turned out so well for our students and we are so grateful for all of the staff members and parents who made all of this possible! This week, on Thursday, we had the kickoff of our biggest school fundraiser, the Boosterthon! The Boosterthon staff members have been spending their days at the school teaching the students lessons in character education and getting them excited for their big run next Friday!

All families are invited to watch the students participate in the Fun Run on Friday, June 7th. The kindergarten and first grade students will be running at 9:45 and the second and third grade students will be running at 2:00. Please park in the bus lot in front of the Slaybaugh Elementary building and follow the signage to the field where the run will take place.

Next week we also have our 2nd & 3rd Grade Lip Sync Battle at 6:00 on Tuesday night. The event will take place in the Slaybaugh Cafeteria. Although our participants have already been chosen and are anxiously getting ready, any student, K-3, and their families are welcome to come watch the show!

Our SSC Fun Run fundraiser kicked off on Thursday, and we are thrilled! Our SSC Fun Run fundraiser incorporates school wide incentives and nightly challenges to help our school raise some much-needed funds, while giving your students the opportunity to have some FUN! 👏😄 This all leads up to our SSC Fun Run, which includes EVERY student in a fun, safe, fitness event to celebrate all of their hard work! This year, Swift and Slaybaugh are working together to raise $35,000 for field trips & assemblies. Sing, sing a song!

The "Slaybaugh Singers" sang a great mini concert at the Districtwide Choral Festival on May 24th. It was hosted by the Davenport Elementary School. We had so much fun singing beside students from Miller, Alder, Fernwood, and Davenport! The bus ride home was also filled with singing. Thank you for sharing your voices.
