Week of 10/9-10/13
Get Ready for Quarter 2
We are looking forward to starting Quarter 2! Report cards will be sent home this week along with an invite to conference week with your day and time, so make sure you are checking your students folders. Any concerns regarding report cards will be discussed during conference week.
If your student is sick and misses school, please send a note so that your student's absence is not marked unexcused.
Please Note:
Conference week is 10/16-10/20. ASP will be open for individuals that need students to attend due to conference week having shortened school days. During conference week we have early dismissal at 1:15pm. Students will still eat lunch at school.
Please remember to send your students with a water bottle, and tennis shoes every day! We do a lot of running and playing and we want to make sure your student is prepared.

How to Help at Home:
Continue to focus on building positive evening routines such as: reading together, talking about your day, and going to bed on time.
Have students start at any number between 0-120 and count on, students should be able to fluently start counting from any point by 1s and 10s.
Practice comparing numbers and balancing equations:
For example: 4+5=3+6 or 9+3>8+2
Practice adding 10 more, and taking away 10 from any number.
Make sure you and your student are going over homework and practicing concepts within the packets given out on Mondays. The homework packets represent skills that we will be working on during the week.

Skip counting: skip counting is a method of counting forwards or backwards by numbers other than 1. For example, counting by 2s looks like: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14,16, 18, 20. 1st graders need to learn how to skip count by 2, 5, and 10. Skip counting helps kids become more efficient when counting large groups of numbers. Skip counting also helps kids develop their number sense by noticing patterns in numbers. See the videos below,
