On June 10, 2024, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved the naming of San Jacinto High School football field after Coach Bill Powell who retired after 29 years in SJUSD – one year at Monte Vista MS and 28 years at San Jacinto HS.
Coach Powell, one of the winningest coaches in Riverside County, led the SJHS Tigers from 1998-2014. During his brief comments to the board, Coach was quick to deflect the attention to his players, coaches and family. Players in attendance praised Coach Powell for leading by example, thanked him for “raising a lot of men,” and vowed to continue his legacy.
Coach Powell will be honored during the SJHS Varsity football game on September 20, 2024.
We appreciate Coach Powell and his commitment to our players, coaches, and the entire SJHS community.
