We Invite You to Join a
Book Study on Belonging
As part of our ongoing efforts to foster a strong sense of community and engagement, we are excited to invite you to participate in a book study focused on the insightful and thought-provoking book "Belonging," by Geoffrey Cohen.
About the Book:
"Belonging" explores the profound impact of social connections on individuals, particularly in educational settings. Geoffrey Cohen delves into the concept of belonging and its significance in promoting a positive learning environment. The book provides valuable insights that can enhance our understanding of how to create a supportive community within our school and beyond.
How to Participate:
To join the book study, we ask that you purchase a copy of "Belonging" on your own and complete the book participation interest form by Wednesday, December 20. There are three different meeting options: you can join a small group discussion in a public space, at someone's house, or virtually. We encourage you to choose the best option for your schedule and comfort level.
Book Study Schedule:
The book study will kick off in January and we will meet monthly through April to discuss assigned chapters.
- Book: "Belonging: The Science of Creating Connection and Bridging Divides," by Geoffrey Cohen. Participants purchase their own copy of the book.
Schedule: January 2024 to April 2024.
Meeting Frequency: Monthly. Time and day to be determined.
Format: Meet virtually online, in a district family's home, or in person at a common school location.
Opportunity to Facilitate:
Additionally, we are looking for enthusiastic parents who would like to take on the role of a book club facilitator. Facilitators will help guide discussions, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to share their thoughts and insights. If you're interested in being a facilitator, please fill out the facilitator interest form.
We believe that this book study will not only provide valuable insights but also serve as a platform for meaningful conversations and connections within our community. We look forward to your participation and the enriching discussions that will undoubtedly arise from this shared experience.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community.
