Cold Spring Elementary Update
A Note from the Principal
Thanks for a great week at CSE! We appreciated the parent volunteers who helped during our late start, thanks for supporting our teachers! It's been nice to have the weather warm up a little so our students can get outside a bit. Everyone gets a little antsy being shut in from the cold! Not only that, but we have seen an increase in sickness, that I am sure is in part because we are all so close during these cold patches. Take care of yourself and the kids; hopefully the bug will disappear from our area soon :-)
One minor change to our school is the wearing of hats and hoods. Last year, I had shared with students that hats and hoods were not allowed. This year, I had our staff give input on what we should allow. It was decided by the majority of staff that hats and hoods would not be allowed during the school day. When students ask me why, I share a few reasons. Wearing a hat, whether it is a baseball cap or a stocking hat, bring about a level or relaxedness that doesn't match our expectation that students are alert and focused to do their best during their school day. Another reasons is we want our students to not have their eyes covered, which is easier to do when hats and hoods are worn. Classroom and building rewards and fun days will still include hats in them, so there are opportunities throughout the year to wear hats.
I also want to share yearbook information. Below is a QR code to order a yearbook this year. All orders are online. Yearbooks start at $14, and we also have an option on the website to donate a yearbook for a family that maybe can't afford a yearbook but would like one. You can also order at the website: https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/productBrowse/1410209/Cold-Spring-Elementary-School/2025-Yearbook/2024121104152295358/CATALOG_SHOP/
Students of the Week!
You will notice an additional line in our students of the week! Right now, our school is working on improving hallway behavior (staying quiet to not interrupt classrooms or the office). A class is chosen as a "Hallway Hero" by the previous class and other adults in the building. They are then awarded a flag to proudly display by their classroom and when they walk the halls :-)
