Swansboro High School wins national gun violence prevention competition

An Eastern North Carolina high school club was selected as one of the winners in a national competition meant to bring awareness to violence prevention. Swansboro High School’s SAVE Promise Club was one of thousands of middle and high school clubs that participated during Sandy Hook Promise’s call-to-action week. The focus was on teaching students how to learn the signs of at-risk behaviors and ways to properly intervene before violence occurs.

Happy Sunday Pirate Families-

It's hard to believe that it is already June and we only have 2 weeks of school left in the 18/19 school year. We have been busy getting ready for exams, planning graduation activities and looking ahead to the 19/20 school year. Last week included special recognition for our SAVE club with a national award by the Sandy Hook Promise organization, our monologue showcase, orchestra and guitar concerts and the Rho Kappa Honor Society induction.

We kick June off with our senior walk on Monday morning. Our graduates will wear their caps and gowns and will visit Swansboro Middle School, Swansboro Elementary, Sand Ridge Elementary and Queens Creek Elementary. This is a special event for all of our students, grades K-12 in the Swansboro and Hubert communities.

Looking ahead we will host a Swansboro baccalaureate service on Sunday, June 16, 2019 for the Swansboro community. Tickets are not needed and we would love to see a huge outpouring of support for our students as they are honored in a non-denominational service at 7 pm in our gymnasium. Participating seniors will wear their caps and gowns and the service will be lead by Class of 2019 graduates.
