A Message from Roundtown Principal, Dr. Miller
Happy Friday, Roundtown Families & Friends!
It was so great to have a full week back with the kids! The children were in full swing participating in their mid-year assessments and will continue to do so for the next few days. We also recognized and celebrated the halfway point of the school year today! There are several awesome activities and events coming up that I hope you will take note of in the next few weeks to help break up the winter blahs while we wait for the weather to turn. I hope you will take a moment to watch my latest video message below.
Enjoy your 3-day weekend with family! I have a little bit more Christmas clean-up to do and will be keeping an eye on the weather as we look to our next snows coming soon. Please take care this weekend and stay warm and cozy!
Regards,
Dr. Miller

SCHOOL UPDATES
This past week....
Mid-Year assessments were in full swing as we look to gauge progress. Progress will be reported again to families in early March.
Our Roundtown PTO hosted their January Meeting. The PTO is shifting their attention now to the second half of the year and all the fun activities and events planned.
The school participated in its January fire drill on Thursday.
We celebrated the halfway mark of the school year on Friday.
On Friday, the school held its January all-school community meeting honoring and recognizing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Students shared their own "Dreams for the world" and presented facts and interesting information about Dr. King.
Coming next week…
It's a short work week for us as we are off school on Monday, January 20 in honor of Dr. King's birthday.
School will resume on Tuesday, January 21.
We are looking at our coldest temperatures of the year Tuesday-Wednesday. Please help your child dress appropriately. Please note, if the "Real Feel" temperature is 19 degrees or lower, we do NOT go outside for recess.
CENTRAL YORK DIVERSITY CELEBRATION
The CYSD Diversity Celebration is being held on February 12 from 6:00-8:00 at the HS. This event is a chance to highlight the unique experiences, perspectives, and cultures within our community. The event will feature school and community tables to explore, a selection of international treats to enjoy, and a special presentation beginning at 7:15 PM, where students and staff will have the opportunity to share "their story" through a variety of formats, including performances and spoken word.
This year, the Diversity Celebration Committee is seeking more involvement from students and staff in the K-6 buildings to participate in the celebration by sharing their stories, artwork, and other talents in the celebration of diversity and inclusion. Students and staff can write a story about their specific culture, family traditions, journey to Central, their native language, and learning English as a second language. Participants can read their own stories or choose someone else to read. In addition, students and staff can present their culture-related artwork, songs, and/or dances at the celebration.
