Kiyara will move on to the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) Spelling Bee. In the event that Kiyara isn't able to attend, Ethan will represent the district. The county event will take place on March 28th at 4280 Brockton Avenue in Riverside at 9:00 am.
Wednesday's Spelling Bee wouldn't have been possible without the direction and dedication of Instructional Coach Michele Loza, who supports K-12 ELA for the district. We also want to thank the following dignitaries for their support:
- Bee Master: Nicole Dayus
- Head Judge: Joe Balleweg
- Judges: Anna Tapley, Rafael Loza, & Krystal Fielstra
- Recorder/Arbitrator: Elizabeth Areiza
Special thanks also goes to DMS for use of their space and to the high school ASB volunteers who helped run the event.

"Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary." - Margaret Cousins
The TVUSD Community High Five Program is designed to empower and encourage the community to acknowledge and appreciate the dedicated employees of the district. This program serves as a platform for parents, students, and local residents, to recognize and celebrate the relentless commitment and hard work put forth by district employees.
Whether it's the passionate educators who shape the future of our children, the diligent administrative staff who keep the educational machinery running smoothly, or the unsung heroes who contribute to the district in various ways, the TVUSD Community High Five Program provides a means to express gratitude and support for their unwavering dedication to the educational well-being of the community. Through this program, TVUSD fosters a sense of unity and appreciation, strengthening the bond between the district and the community it serves.
Fill out this quick form and the Communications Department will create and send a digital certificate to the employee for their hard work. As an added recognition, one employee will be selected each month as a "Community High Five Spotlight" and their shout-out will be recognized in a future edition of the Community Connection.

π Community Service in Action through TDAP Program
What is TDAP?
The TDAP Program, otherwise known as the Temporary Disability Academic Program, is a variation of Home Hospital that supports 9th-12th grade students. Students in TDAP are unable to attend school full time due to their individual course of health care. Each student is put on an Individual Course Plan to assist them with reaching their academic goals, and to eventually transition back to their home school, or to one of our independent study programs, where they can successfully complete all requirements to graduate.
In the TDAP Program, students are provided assistance with academics, community service opportunities, applying to colleges and scholarships, resume writing, applying for jobs, and anything else a student may need to support them moving forward in a positive manner.
Operation Gratitude + Donations to Local Programs
We are proud of the TVUSD TDAP students, who along with their advisor Deb Washko (Susan Nelson High School teacher), have found ways to not only assist local programs this year, but also successfully supported Operation Gratitude:
- Students wrote and decorated 367 letters for our deployed soldiers. 102 cards were created from CHS English 9 Concepts students, and 101 cards were made by the SNS SEAL program.
- Additionally, last semester students donated 21 blankets made for Binky Patrol, nine large bags of jackets/coats were collected for the Temecula Resource Center, and 11 large bags of blankets/towels/sheets were donated to the New Hope Foundation which supports pet adoption.
