Principal's Weekly Update
April 8th-12th
Dear Families,
Even though it was a short week, it was a busy one at Holy Name. We had a good amount of work done on our facilities and campus from some electrical work to implementing a new key system in the building for increased security. I am sure you also noticed the tree removal that took place on campus over the past two weeks. Unfortunately, we learned that our trees were significantly damaged by Asian horned beetles and were rotting. For the safety of everyone, it was best to have them removed. I know many of the students were sad to see the tree taken down. The good news is that Fr. Williams and I have been talking about ways to continually beautify our campus. We have had conversations with arborists and other professionals about ways we can continue to be good stewards of our campus. We will continue to keep you updated on our plans as they unfold. We are currently looking for someone to help us with stump removal of the trees that were taken down. If anyone in our community has expertise in this area, we would be grateful to have a conversation with them.
I am also very excited to share that we have received new TVs that will be placed in each classroom. While our projectors are still functioning, the bulbs are starting to become dimmer over time. The TVs will be an updated technology for each classroom. We will share pictures on Facebook as we set them up in each classroom.
The Bookmobile is scheduled to visit again this Tuesday. Students who borrowed books should return them this week if they plan on borrowing more books. I received a good number of new applications which I have sent over to the Fall River Public Library. The cards should be ready for the next visit on Tuesday.
I am also excited to announce that Mrs. Remmes and Ms. Silva will be starting a new running club after school on Mondays and Wednesdays. This will begin the week after April break. You can sign up your child below and I will also be sending out an email midweek as a reminder.
I would also like to invite families to the 10:30 Mass at Holy Name Church this weekend. Sixteen people will be baptized at this Mass, many of them from the Holy Name School community. After Mass, there will be an Easter egg hunt on the church lawn. Everyone is welcome and we would love to see you there. Thank you to all who made donations for the Easter egg hunt.
I sent a separate communication home this afternoon about an early dismissal on Monday due to the solar eclipse. Please read this email and call or email if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Megan dos Santos
Principal
