Reminder to Charge Chromebook
Please help remind your student to keep their Chromebook charged especially during extended breaks.

Bison Fan Day!
- Any eligible 6th, 7th, and 8th grade student is invited to stay after school (on Thursday, January 9th) to watch the Girls Basketball game.
- Please note that students will need to have a ride home at 5:45 pm.
- If you want your student to attend, please see the sign up link below. The sign up link will only be open until 1/9 at 11:00 am. However, if we reach a capacity number of participants, the form will not accept any more students to sign up.
Please note, if you are actively participating in another Winter sport (Basketball) or Activity that practices after school on 1/9, please do NOT sign up for Bison Fan Day. The expectation is that you fulfill your commitment to your athletic or activity practice. You may not join the Bison Fan day after your practice. If you want to attend the Girls Basketball game after your practice, same expectations are followed to be with an adult for the event.

Our new book of the month will be, The Wild Robot. Students interested in reading the Book of the Month should stop by the library to sign up and check out a copy.
All who participate will be invited to the Discussion with Donuts (including a gluten free option) with Mrs. Brown, the school librarian, and any other staff who participate.
Discussion with Donuts will be held Wednesday, January 29th during TRAIL Time.
RECOGNITIONS & CELEBRATIONS
8th Grade FACS
8th grade FACS students worked on their plating skills with some holiday desserts!
Here are the winners for 3rd, 4th and 5th hour!
CyberPatriot Team
On Sunday, December 15th, the CyberPatriot team had their State Competition. They spent four hours researching and answering challenging cybersecurity questions. The hard work paid off as they ended up with the highest score of all the middle schools in Missouri! Way to go Areanna, Ryan, Graison, Dylan, and Everett! They qualified for the Semifinals in January!
Virtual Reality in the Art Room
Students in Ms. Garwood's 7th and 8th grade art classes enjoyed visiting ceramic studios from around the world, thanks to Mrs. Brown and the virtual reality goggles. Students observed similar techniques and processes used during our ceramic units as well as how culture and location influences unique differences from country to country.
Art Club
Art Club worked hard at making brooches.
Animal Club
Animal Club worked on making more dog toys for KC Pet Project, as well as posters describing needs of animal organizations in our area.
Team 8 Bison
Team 8 Bison colored holiday themed placemats to be delivered to Lee's Summit area retirement communities as a service project.
REMINDERS & REPEATED ITEMS
Inclement Weather: AMI Days
With the winter season upon us, we are sharing information about virtual learning days in the event the district declares an AMI day.
Teachers will post student assignments in Schoology by 9:00 AM and be available to answer questions during Google Help Meets between 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
Students may join Google Help Meets during that time frame to ask questions, visit with teachers, and clarify assignments.
Teachers will share Google Meet codes with students through Schoology.
Staff will also be available via email during normal school hours, in addition to the virtual help sessions
Work must be completed in order for student attendance to be counted.
Students are expected to access and complete assignments, meet deadlines, engage in the work and communicate with their teachers, peers or parents if they are needing assistance.

2025 Middle School Swim & Dive League
Middle School Swim and Dive League registrations open on Tuesday, January 7th!
The 2025 Middle School Swim and Dive League is for students interested in swimming or wanting to explore the sport of diving. The LSR7 Middle School Swim & Dive League was created for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students as a part of the District's K-12 Development of Programs initiative to vertically align our middles school to high school programs.
